Buce Posted 12 January 2018 Posted 12 January 2018 Puel is quoted in the Mockery as saying he's going nowhere.

grumpy old git Posted 12 January 2018 Posted 12 January 2018 Apart from being played out of position (on the wing) all the time by LCFC I can't beleive its the same player I saw score twice against Barcelona in the friendly couple of seasons ago! How many strikers put 2 past Barcelona with such ease? What the hell went so wrong!

He played a good season in Russia when all their strikers were injured, so he was brought off the wing, and filled in well. We purchased him as a winger, but the media convinced a lot of people that he was a centre forward, because of that one season. He's a winger. Probably best in a wide 3 behind a striker.

Marshall Cockney Fox Posted 12 January 2018 Posted 12 January 2018 I'm bored of this one. Can we just chalk it down to a bad mistake and take the first remotely reasonable offer?

The club would sell for £5m and maybe even a lot less. He can't even get on the bench for cup games.

Clearly we saw something no one else had or wants.
Tielemans63 Posted 12 January 2018 Posted 12 January 2018 Having looked at the player's wages thread it's no wonder we can't flog Musa, even on loan. I wouldn't be surprised if he did a Winston Bogarde on us and saw out his contract. 1

To be fair, he's so crap it's not as if teams of a decent level were queuing up. Thank fook he's off anyway and hope he doesn't come back
Marshall Cockney Fox Posted 13 January 2018 Posted 13 January 2018 Is he actually going to leave though. Have we overpaid on wages and no other club will come close? Is he yet another footballer so motivated to play that they will twiddle their thumbs in the players lounge, rather than move.

Clearly i guess we are trying to do the best deal to save the most dosh - as will all the other clubs. We owe him 2 1/2 year’s money and we will be trying to reduce our exposure on sale as much as poss. Unfortunately, all potential buyers know that we are legally bound to pay his contract up so will be offering him a lower salary than he deserves, expecting us to pick up the balance next 30 months. The difference needs to be reflected in the fee but we aren’t holding a very strong hand. the only way around this is to play him and hope he rips up a few trees but ironically, it’s in his best financial interest not to do so as that keeps us in a weak position.
Mrfox452 Posted 13 January 2018 Posted 13 January 2018 If we were to sell him, what's the absolute minimum price would you take?
murphy Posted 13 January 2018 Posted 13 January 2018 12 minutes ago, Mrfox452 said: If we were to sell him, what's the absolute minimum price would you take? Pretty much anything to get him off the wage bill. I do get the impression that he is content to pick up his inflated wages just to kick his heels as no one else will pay him as much, in which case that's a pretty appalling attitude. Could have been worse though. The first time that we were in for him - Jan 2016 - we were quoted £23m. Could have also derailled the title charge Asprilla style.
Marshall Cockney Fox Posted 13 January 2018 Posted 13 January 2018 Given St Alban's detailed financial analysis. Feck all I reckon.

I falsely took some reassurance that we couldn't get a deal over the line in January 2016 as CSKA wanted £23m. He's that bad you would have thought they couldn't get rid of him quick enough for the money we were offering.

I can't agree with your last sentence, how can it possibly be in Musa's best financial interests to perform badly? I do think that the club would at least consider cancelling his contract by mutual consent or letting him move for no transfer fee. Our best bet would be to see him go on loan somewhere and gamble he becomes a saleable asset again and get rid in the summer. His reluctance to go to Hull on loan at the start of the season doesn't bode well as it looked obvious even then he was surplus here. I can easily see a situation that he sits out his contract here and leaves on a Bosman in 2.5 years but that can't be a situation he would want. Surely with his pedigree and at his age he wants to play football again? After all he was well thought of in Russia and has played numerous times at Champions League and international level.

He’s on a very good wage with us & is happy to sit around earning his money as he knows he isn’t really gonna make the money he is right now elsewhere.
