I am a big Simpson fan, and I'm not by any means saying that he shouldn't be replaced, but to offer an alternative of (no disrespect to these either) Darnell Johnson and Josh Knight who haven't even mustered a single half of professional football between them is absolutely laughable. I would kind of get it if we had nothing whatsoever to play for, but we do.

As I've said in a different post the thought of doing something like that used to make me laugh too but I honestly don't know how much worse it can be. If we lose on Saturday I would 100% be in favour of playing anyone else in that position.

I think he's been toss for a good while now tbh. Under that run under Ranieri before he got the sack he seemed to get praise ("he's a 7/10 every week" etc) when he was arguably the worst of a bad bunch. I don't actually think he's all that solid defensively which seems to be the drum people keep banging as a plus for him.

So that automatically makes two youth team players better? Puel has shown this season if he believes the young players are good enough (Chilwell, Choudhury) they'll be involved. Knight has played ten minutes in a 2nd round league cup game where we were 3-1 up (not even under Puel) and Johnson has been nowhere near the squad.

I'm saying they can't be much worse and you never really know how good they are until they play, I suspect most on here would have said Choudhury wasn't good enough as well.

I've had enough of seeing Danny Simpson stop every attack he is involved in, having to carry Wes is bad enough in that respect but frankly I don't care who plays right back so long as its not Simpson

Bit of a witch hunt for Danny IMO

We might want an attacking full back but he’s never been that

And I don’t see him making more mistakes than others re goals conceded

Yes, he’s not as good as he was two seasons ago but that can be said for pretty much everyone

Heard that Choudhury is comfortable anywhere being two-footed?

If the last couple of games of the season can't result in a seventh place finish, might as well give him an opportunity at right-back for some of those games.

Been thinking about this and if we switch to a 3 at the back with wing backs then I see no place for Simpson anymore sadly. He would be poor at rwb where Pererria and Albrighton will be first picks. He’s shown he can do a job at rcb without doing particularly well and certainly would be a back up option for that position too. He told someone that I know at the end of season awards dinner “I don’t know where I’ll be next season”. Had he fallen out with Puel as he was dropped for the Bournemouth game only to immediately get his place back when Amartey got injured? He has been a great player and option and worked a treat in our title winning system at rb but now with a change of system and him getting on a bit he seems surplus to requirements and I don’t how much longer is on his contract but I think we should sell him if somebody comes in for him
