I'm disappointed we haven't seen more of him, especially after his blistering debut and then started the next game I think. I can understand Puel maybe wanting to ease him in to English football but he should be having more than a 10 minute cameo. Particular when the form of those playing in front of him has been average at best.

I would really like to see him get a start or two in the PL at some point before the end of the season. I feel that his performances have shown enough, and we have much to gain. He seems to have an incisive game that would help us stay on the front foot, not to mention Diabate looks to be full of graft to go with a light touch.

Every time he gets the ball and makes a pass, he's immediately on his bike and fvcking off into space somewhere else to try and force the issue. Every single time. Watch him next time he plays, I hope Puel doesn't coach this out of him.

Got high hopes for him

At the end of the Chelsea game he played a ball to Chilwell in the box and was on his bike towards the by line, the pass back was undercooked, but he was in acres if it had come off. As you say Sol,does it all the time.

Excited by him.

he's definitely got some promise but I really don't get why people think he's better than Gray, he's done nothing of any real note since his debut against a League one side

Gray’s done nothing of note in about 20 games, with about 5x more pitch time.

that's crap and you know it, whilst he hasn't pushed on as I hoped he would have to say he's done nothing is false

To say he's done nothing is probably closer to the point than you are Jimmy.

the only point I've made is to say that saying Diabate has already surpassed Gray is false, Gray took apart Championship sides in the cups, a higher standard than Diabate's best performance, both have talent, both are young and both need to do a lot of work

My point was not who's better it was Gray has done nothing of note this season. And he's way to selfish.

Anyone else delighted we're still making signings like this? Felt with the holy trinity gone, thought we'd just settle for journeymen

100% I feel fairly confident that when WBA drop we aren't gonna be in for shit like Livermore.

...Wouldn't put money on that!

I really love his movement. He makes things happen with his constant movement and making himself open for a pass. I am excited about his potential right now.

Alright then, I’ll be slightly more modest and say, like you said of Diabaté, that he’s done nothing of note in a long time.

For the amount of game time Gray has accrued this season he’s far (very far) from made the most of it. Diabate hasn’t set the world on fire, but he’s had much less pitch-time and is a foreign player who is new to the club. Nonetheless, in his brief cameos he comes on and, with some quality and brains, goes straight for the throat. You can rarely say the same of Gray.

You mention that Diabate’s best moment has been against a mere league one side, with two goals and two (?) assists. I’d remind you that Gray too featured in that game, and did absolutely fvck all, as he so often does.

Diabate > Gray all day.

Given what we have shelled out in recent windows, he is a fantastic signing.  Probably a Puel recommendation as opposed to a Recruitment Team ‘find’.  This which would explain why he has serious potential.

I don’t think we’ve seen enough of him yet, looks promising but it’s hard to make a judgement when he’s barely started.

what i used to love about gray was his rawness and lack of fear on running at anyone. now it seems he wont run at defenders i dont get what he does good now?!

Tries the Hollywood shot from 20 yards  "Henry style".

I've no reservations about him, whatsoever. Should be starting every game - rather than clinging on to a competent but hardly ground-breaking formation. He makes Iheanacho look like a constipated tortoise and makes Grey look bewildered. This guy can make things happen - and I doubt Claude would even think about training any of that potential out of him.

And to think, we got him for about £1.75 - 2 million. Part of me believes we ought not to pay more than £20 million for a player again for a long while, just because we've had such success mining lower levels (and we can afford to be wrong more often)
