"€9m" and "sorted over the weekend one way or another" doesn't sound two compatible statements to me.

I hope we pretty much hold our ground here, Porto's position is weak with a player with one year on his contract who is adamant he's not going to sign another. Porto can't afford to not agree a reasonable deal this summer.

I'm just passing on what I've been told. From a source that seems reliable.

I'm sure you are.

Whilst we would want to get this sorted before the World Cup so will Porto. The nightmare scenario for them is him getting a three/four month injury and clubs deciding not to buy him this summer and come January he's free to talk to other clubs about a Bosman.

Some comments from Porto fans;

I dont want this to happen as a Porto fan BUT if it does happen, this is such a good buy for Leicester.

This guy is fast, REALLY fast. He also never tires, seriously, he can run and run all game and still have stamina left. Very hardworking, humble player with good crossing ability too. He's also young and can improve even more. Absolute steal for Leicester, trust me.

Only 25m?

Fvck. He's been with us for 5 years and only for one season we got the best of him. Leicester fans, he's very talented as wingback. He can play on the left, as a winger and even played as a second striker with the U21. But he'll be best as right wingback.

Steal. He has low clause and contract ends next year, so what can we do. Can't figure out why big clubs like Chelsea or United aren't after him.

Just seen a few tweets from Spurs fans who are disappointed as they thought that Pereira would suit them well... Thought that would make some people on here happy!

All sounding very promising anyhow.

They can also afford to wait for him to get into the World Cup spotlight.

We've made our position clear in that we want him. They have plenty of time to try and get more money for him.

Waiting is a gamble which can either be a winning bet or a losing bet. The player is adamant he won't sign another contract.

They could sell him to us tomorrow for £25m if you believe certain press reports. He has a £33m release clause so at best they'll only get another £8m but could potentially lose all £25m (and his wages for a season) if they don't sell ASAP.

There is potential upside my holding on but there's also a hell of potential downside as well.

Yeah but I can't see us pulling out of this deal at the money we've offered. There aren't that many right backs that fit the bill as much as Ricardo Pereira does.

That's the game. We might be prepared to pay £30m but they might be prepared to accept £20m and now both parties are trying to get the best deal.

The longer it goes on the more it turns against Porto. If he picks up a three/four month injury then the buying clubs will probably try to do business in January either for a Bosman or a cut price fee. It's all about who plays their cards the best.

I know, I just think Porto are in the stronger position.

We have the money, we're desperate for a right back and Porto don't have to give into our first offer.

but werent Porto having financial troubles in recent times(not sure if thats improved or not)

personally i think its even between the 2 clubs, yes we need a RB and have the money, they dont have to accept the first offer but given the fact hes got a year left on his contract theyll try and cash in given its the sort of thing they do.

and im sure all parties want it done asap.

hopefully it all will be done by the weekend or 14 secs before the window shuts:ph34r:

Apparently Porto are in financial fair play trouble and have to meet a 26M (30M euro) fiscal deficit by June:

I think that for them the best case is that we spark a bidding war, but otherwise they probably want to conclude the deal quickly. They also only own 88% of the player's rights, with Nice and Vitoria Gumiares due part of the fee.

I would be annoyed if we spent anything less than 20 mill on a RB.   We need to go big

Stop being a giant puss lol
