We will want this done ASAP. I think the Thais will want it done quickly so they can then sack Puel straight after.

It will be like having a girlfriend who blows you out the day after her birthday/Christmas after spending big on her present. lol

Averages 3.7 tackles per game, so yes considering Ndidi gets 4.2.

Yeah in the shitty ****ing liga nos.

Gut feeling says we’ll open the window with a bang and get some spending done early. Nothing quite like showing some intent.

Then wake up realising Rudkin is the man dealing with transfers!

if we struggle now  to defend with danny simpson attempting to bomb up the pitch, wait till you see pereira

We usually struggle because Mahrez jogs back and Morgan is usually so far out of position it drags Simpson all over the shop.

Both of them will be replaced in the summer. This lad has the speed to get back anyway.

And Ndidi's stats in the Belgian league meant nothing, right? Terrible player because he played in a worse league I'm sure...

I worry that there doesn't seem to be much interest from elsewhere, unless I've missed something. If your spending 30m euros on a player you'd think you'd be fighting off some other good clubs for his signature.

I can't say I know much about him, even though I have watched him play. But he's quick, a right back and a good age so sign him up.

Didn't we buy mahrez from a low quality league and I think it's fair to say that he didn't turn out to bad.?

Don't know why you harp about Ndidi's tackling stats as if they're something to praise, considering the fact the amount of times he loses the ball before in order for him to win it back... by tackling.

The lad has talent, but needs to show consistency and has to work on his ball control.

Tackles per game as a number means nothing to me - you need to see Pereira play in order to put it into context. Also, Liga NOS isn't renowned for quality attackers outside the Top Four (Porto, Sporting, Braga, Benfica), so opposition tends to be weak(er). Look at this season's table - 14 out of 18 teams have a negative goal difference! lol

Did Mahrez cost us £30m?

The Liga NOS is Portugal's top division - hardly comparable to Ligue 2 in France.

Not if a deal is already done for him

You say I shouldn't be harping on about how good his tackling is because he gives it away, and then tackles it back again? What? His composure on the ball is not the topic of conversation here, his tackling is. Although his composure leaves... something to be desired :D

If you want to focus on the top Portuguese/other teams, then fine, over both games in a season:

  • Versus Benfica: 8 tackles
  • Versus Braga: 7 tackles
  • Sporting not available for some reason on Whoscored
  • Versus Besiktas: 4 tackles (played right midfield)
  • Versus Monaco: 6 tackles
  • Versus RB Leipzig (1 game only): 5 tackles

Clearly he has talent but he was given the absolute runaround by Liverpool.

That's my point, we need pace to cover him going forwards?

only thing i can think of in that respect is that insiders think its more a done deal that hes coming here

I'm all for change and it's clear we need an almost completely new back four, or at least both a young and talented centre-back and right-back for next season.

I like Pereira, I just wish people would be a bit less crazy with their praise based on some stats. He has the speed and skills to be a very potent wing-back, if that's what we're aiming for in the near future. Just take the stats with a pinch of salt.

screw stats and everything, we should all go on youtube clips when judging players

Morgan and Simmo are excellent at creating space for the opposition. With them replaced, we should be more compact and stronger at the back of we bring in pace.

No he didn't but we don't need to take mahrez type risks now we have money

The asking price is putting me off a little bit.

It's great to be in the pursuit of a talented and highly-rated right-back and it's imperative we start building from a strong back four, but I'm just cringing a little bit inside when I think of our past expensive transfers in in the shape of Slimani and Musa.... >_<

I know that we can afford these sort of asking prices thanks to our owners, but still... £30m for a right-back, that's almost Kyle Walker territory.

I guess I still cannot get used to the sums thrown around in football these days.

Pereira better be worth it - and whomever we bring in as THE centre-back alongside Maguire.

And even then, we're looking at having spent maybe a third of what is necessary to compete to be ready for next season - at least one able central midfielder, a talented winger (in case Mahrez should leave for good), and boom! £120m out of the window in just one summer.
