Perhaps they are upset because they know they won't fit into his system or style of play.

It's about the least defensive I've been for a manager for a long time. I'd totally understand him getting sacked, I totally understand people not being keen on him as well. I just get annoyed when people get to the point of blaming everything on him, jumping on rumours etc. I try to be totally fair in my judgements of him and think through things a bit deeper than just a poor run of results and some poor play. I just think he's really trying to do the right things, I like the fact he's not scared to play young players, I think his style has been hampered by what was at his disposal, that sacking him could wreck a years worth of recruitment planning. Whether he can ever implement what he wants I don't know.

I've been told the deal is pretty much done in terms of fees agreed between clubs (like any deal these days, there's a lot of add ons based on club performance and player performance). Pereira wants to come to us so now it's just a case of agreeing terms with him (£££) and finalising contract. Whether that gets done before the World Cup and then he gets unveiled before the World Cup is another matter.
