KJT Posted 21 May 2018 Posted 21 May 2018 None of the top EPL teams want him ( cos he's rubbish), West Brim will be playing in the championship. This guy is desperate for an EPL team to sign him, should go for peanuts then!

Give over with this whole relegation thing. Bet you wouldn't mind Mawson or on unlinked players such as Fabianski/Butland 1

Very solid with the ball at his feet Would look great alongside Maguire Good to play 2 or 3 at the back

Dan Posted 22 May 2018 Posted 22 May 2018 He's clearly not rubbish. I've come around to this one. It makes sense. Wages are a bit high but he's a good defender, a leader on the pitch and that'll only benefit the likes of Chilwell and Maguire. Get it done. 3

ozleicester Posted 22 May 2018 Posted 22 May 2018 We have a VERY young potential team next year, ideally we would sgn a quality CB aged around 27/28 but i cant see that happening, so a quality 30 year old will help manage/develop Chillwell, Maguire etc. Get im in. 2
tiredclimb Posted 22 May 2018 Posted 22 May 2018 I think if we are getting Evans and this lad from Barca we will see either Wes or Benny leave. Somehow I can see it being Wes?
Ted Maul Posted 22 May 2018 Posted 22 May 2018 We're going to need some experience in that back line next year- Chilwell young, Pereira adapting to England, Maguire still learning. Evans has been there & done everything and is still in his prime as a CB. The only thing putting me off is the last few months at West Brom- not sure what went on there, but some top teams were interested in January and he's still very much worth that sort of risk at £3m. 1

Yep, HBHM is 25. Ricardo 24, Chilwell 21. We need some more experience in there to guide them through.

I reckon he could teach them a lot. 1

WestLothianFox Posted 22 May 2018 Posted 22 May 2018 I would have preferred us to sign Dragovic, but looks that is not happening. Evans is a good player, so will do
Popular Post sphericalfox Posted 22 May 2018 Popular Post Posted 22 May 2018 All those who are saying he's rubbish, none of the top 5/6 would want him. Christ... The rumour that Man City were after him last year is a fact. West Brom made him captain to bump up his prospective fee as a number of clubs (including ourselves) were genuinely interested. With that West Brom put a ridiculous price tag on his head (they have obscene debt!), and unfortunately for them them succumbed to relegation. I'd be very surprised if they boing boing back any time soon they need to clear out the big wages. So with that the rumours again are surfacing that Evans is being courted by a number of big clubs again, and ourselves. Evans is solid CB pro, and isn't rash or negligent with his play. Pep knows this. We know this. However, if he goes to Man City, for example, he will be a bench player at most, with some cup games thrown in. We on the other hand might be able to offer him more game time. The hoo-ha over this agent fee and his rumoured wage is insignificant. This is last likely Premiership contract, and it's in his best interest to make it a good one. It's up to him to choose the best option to suit what he'd like to achieve professionally, and I understand that standard to be high. With Huth heading out the door with the bags of experience and steadfast solidity, we need to replace that nearly like for like. Our long-term goal is to have a self-sufficient club bringing through talented young players and developing them ready for the 1st team. We're spending millions on this to make it happen with speed. Despite the taxi incident, Evans is an intelligent, hard-worker, who comes from the Fergie mold of professional, and we haven't done bad by picking up one or two of those over the last few years. Evans has a another 3 years in him at least and would be an asset both the team but also to the those coming up and through. If we can agree whatever the fees and of course wages, then I believe Evans will not be a liability to our defence, but an asset; and possibly be a significant part in any successes we may have in the next two years. 12

StanSP Posted 22 May 2018 Posted 22 May 2018 I don't get why, if it's true, that we're going for Dragovic on a permanent deal now as opposed to January. If I remember correctly we could have got him for £16m-£20m as part of the loan deal but we didn't even make any offer to Leverkusen to get him. Found that quite disappointing. Although I've come round to having Evans in the side, I'd rather we do go for Dragovic over Evans to be honest. Would settle for either though! 2
