I rate Zaha but he's not as good as Mahrez. I'm sure they could get Zaha for £50m but they won't be getting a player as good. It's an insult to Mahrez that he's being compared to Zaha. What has Zaha ever done to be compared favourably against Mahrez? If the Man City fans are split on who is better then they don't deserve to have a player like Mahrez. Mahrez could be rated the best player at Man City this time next year, Zaha could never be that. 2

Mahrez's value is just snobbery, if he was playing for a top club then they'd just pay the asking price. Mahrez has world class stats over the last three seasons and you only have to look at his highlight reel to see he's an outstanding technical footballer. The snobbery extends not only to his club but his nationality. If he was playing for France his valuation would sky rocket as we would see him being one of the best players in the French national team and there would be evidence he can still excel with top class players around him. I think that Chelsea will enter the dance as soon as they have sorted their manager problem out. Arsenal too, but the club which really baffles me is Manchester United. They're in dire need of a winger with Mahrez's profile. However with that dinosaur as manager it won't happen. Edited 23 May 2018 by ZeGuy

If mahrez went to United Mourinho would make him rubbish. He'd probably have to do more defending than he did with us!

However I choose not to generalise, categorises or stereotype people on the back of their religious beliefs, race, sex or team they support. I stand by my statement. Old Firm fans are NOT fans to be emulated and THAT WAS all I said. Ofcourse there are good people who follow them but i was talking about their fan base in general which is NOT a nice fan base. Never once DoD I say "all their fans" are this or that.

Cant see to find them if anyone can link - So this deal we've outlined is it a flat fee or is Roberts included in the deal now? Over the last three seasons: Mahrez 35 goals & 24 assists Hazard 33 goals & 12 assists Even then you have to take into account Mahrez has been playing in a 4-4-2 as RM with defensive responsibilities in a low possession team. Hazard usually plays behind the striker and still doesn't match up. I remember when Hazard won PFA POTY and the next season in our title winning year Mahrez had surpassed his goal and assist stats in January. 1

More chance of Man U going for William from Chelsea, I'm not sure Mahrez fits Jose's profile. Chelsea is the interesting one, but a lot will depend on the new manager and what happens to Hazard. I've got a feeling the LCFC just want it done asap, so they can reinvest the money, I'm not sure they will wait until Chelsea sort themselves out. Arsenal I can't see them spending more than around the £50 m mark on one player.
Blue ROI Posted 23 May 2018 Posted 23 May 2018 Fair play to the club for sticking to a high fee. If Mahrez goes to Man City I'd imagine it will be before the World Cup starts. One way or another hes going but would be good for us to get it wrapped up early and not be distracted heading into the pre-season and Summer transfer window.

esoog Posted 23 May 2018 Posted 23 May 2018 Right now just a rumour, unless we are simultaneously close to secure a replacement. I mean a proven winger, none of that noise coming out yet
Fox 4 Life Posted 23 May 2018 Posted 23 May 2018 17 minutes ago, hackneyfox said: How many games/ minutes? Also it isn't just about goals and assists, Hazard is more of a playmaker with better key passes, chances created, completion etc. Yes he plays in a better team but also in a team that has struggled hugely this year, he was the difference in the cup final last week and for me is a better all round player than Mahrez. Not to take anything away from Riyad who is brilliant in his own right. 1
StanSP Posted 23 May 2018 Posted 23 May 2018 The offer is (as was speculated before) £60m and we'd get further fee(s) if Man City win the League and/or Champions League as well as appearances made for them. Once both clubs agree fee I'd expect this to go through before the World Cup. 1 2

ian_marshall Posted 23 May 2018 Posted 23 May 2018 If the fee is £60m plus add ons it also needs to include Roberts in my view otherwise I think we've been done over as there is no way Man City will find a player elsewhere with similar stats to Mahrez for anything short of £90m in the current market. 1
mozartfox Posted 23 May 2018 Posted 23 May 2018 Just get it done, so our Scouting and Recruitment team can get back to watching hours of videotape as a pre-cursor to delivering another Turkey or two.

Which turkey you mean mahrez vardy Maguire ndidi Fuchs or our latest signing who looks pretty much ok.
Finn Claw II Posted 23 May 2018 Posted 23 May 2018 I see to remember Mahrez putting in a fair few average performances this season. After half of us on here slating him, he is now a £100m player again who is better than Hazard.. That said, i’d be In no rush to sell as if Hazard or Salah move, he is a direct replacement and Arsenal need someone like him.
les-tah Posted 23 May 2018 Posted 23 May 2018 (edited) Whatever we get we need to spend as much as it takes to buying a proven player of similar ability. Yes i know Mahrez was only worth few hundred grand and yes i know he was once unknown. But we are not a championship side anymore and if we want to stay at the top end of the premiership and try mix it with them we need that sort of talent in straight away.
