By all accounts Puel, Macia and the recruitment teams have been working non-stop since January, and we've all known Mahrez is on his way out, so I hope we have a few names on a list of possible replacements.

I see to remember Mahrez putting in a fair few average performances this season.  After half of us on here slating him, he is now a £100m player again who is better than Hazard..

That said, i’d be In no rush to sell as if Hazard or Salah move, he is a direct replacement and Arsenal need someone like him.

Salah won't move but Hazard is another story. Arsenal could bid too.  I think that's why ManCity would want to wrap the deal up asap.

Just hope went don't do a Spurs with the way they used the 'Bale' money or Everton with the Lukaku money.

With the Mahrez money and this season transfer budget, we could be spending north of a 100 million

So it's a pretty much done deal then?

Not necessarily. Still a few weeks left til the World Cup. But we know Mahrez will push through a deal as he'll want to have stuff done as quickly as possible and avoid another saga before (and on) deadline day. Depends what his agent wants and if Man City will pay it, not like they're short of money lol

More chance of Man U going for William from Chelsea, I'm not sure Mahrez fits Jose's profile. Chelsea is the interesting one, but a lot will depend on the new manager and what happens to Hazard.

I've got a feeling the LCFC just want it done asap, so they can reinvest the money, I'm not sure they will wait until Chelsea sort themselves out.

Arsenal I can't see them spending more than around the £50 m mark on one player.

That's why I said it wouldn't happen. Can't see Jose getting past next season. Horrible football, "poor" results compared to the money invested and José is falling out with some players.

We need to.

A right back has just cost us £20m.

We still need

2 centre backs

Left back

Attacking midfielder

Right winger

Plus replacement for backup goalie and upgrades to some of the rest of the squad.

Thanks. 60M plus add-ons is something ManCity will pay, I think. They'll never get Hazard under 150M, if Chelsea want to sell him to them, that is. Which I doubt.

Agreed, he seems to have lose his touch.

Potential of 75 Million for a player who is desperate to leave and often under performs for us... I'd be happy with that.

Will be a sad day when it does get announced, but we are onto the next chapter here and I think we will be spending a lot on decent replacements.

Really don't think we'll go for a left back, he'll give Chilwell more time.

If you've got three rock solid people next to him, it's easier to nurse him through games where he needs it.

Thats fine if Fuchs is still here.  Does he have one more season with us?

Yeah, one more year. It's his pension fund, he won't leave.

He looked very slow at times this season and I'm far from certain about Chilwell, so two suspect players vying for the same position?

I'd heard that Puel had a shopping list of nine players, if that is true then surely a left back will be one of them?

Cant see us going for a proper left back as we have done for RB

Maybe some young prospect?  But we have that already in Chilwell.  Think Chilwell will play every game and Fuchs will be the back up.  We will probably look to invest elsewhere

The new fella played left back under Puel for Nice, so i'd imagine he could cover in emergencies. I'm not certain about Chilwell, but I think there could be something in there and it's worth sticking with IMO. At least until January, if he struggles the first part of the season, then I'd make a move.

This is about where I'm at. If Chilwell can improve his crossing some (fewer blocked crosses, especially) - and work on his positioning, he's at the very least serviceable. Our areas of greatest need lie elsewhere, IMO.

Puel absolutely loves Chilwell, there's no way we're getting another left back this summer. I imagine we'll replace Fuchs next summer with someone cheap or another youngster. We all might want someone better than Chilwell but the reality is Puel thinks he's the complete player, scary but he might eventually be proven right.

I actually think Puel will try Simpson at LB sometimes to enable him to cut in onto his right foot in the final 3rd

Oh wow lol

Let's hope not

Not a dig but what does the WC have to do with it? Algeria aren't there!

That’s spot on, for me.
