I actually think Puel will try Simpson at LB sometimes to enable him to cut in onto his right foot in the final 3rd

Not a chance.!

Think we will need to sign 2 wingers or a winger and no.10 to get anywhere close to replacing him.

RM - Roberts/Albrighton    LM - Gray/Diabate   No.10 - Silva/Maddison

Perhaps a tad optimistic on how well these youngsters adapt to the Premier League but a decent looking future line-up if nothing else.

Pretty similar to the personel i would like.

LW: Gray, Albrighton

RW: Roberts, Shiqiri

NO.10 Ian Nacho, Maddison

Diabate Just filling in over all three positions.

NO.9 Vardy and a target man to come in.

Didn't they use the Bale money to get eriksen tell me if I'm wrong

They did actually, and he has proved to be a fantastic signing. That said, he is quite a different player to Bale and he didn't make his impact straight away - it took him a couple of years.

That is probably the best we could hope for - we bring in a player who does become one of our best after a few seasons. But to find someone who could come in and do it right away... you've got to get really lucky.

Half wits on here wouldn’t give said signing more a few seasons, they would give a few game and then bin off, like they did with Iheanacho and Silva and Iborra lol

Silva dropping back into CM is OK with me although do think he is a little lightweight but may improve there. Probably be best in a midfield 3.

Not that big a fan of Shaqiri but could be a decent value for money considering Stoke went down.

Nacho seemed to be doing better at no.10 although still see him as long term successor to Vardy as no.9

Definitely agree on signing a target man too. Much needed option from the bench!

That will happen, but part of modern football is that it's harder and harder to have a long-term perspective. One justification for opinions like this is the fear of not capitalising on our current position. It really is incredible to think that we've come from League One to becoming the 15th most valuable club in the world, valued higher than the Milan clubs in less than 10 years. But as awesome as this is, it can easily go wrong, look what has happened to Sunderland, Leeds, Aston Villa, etc.

We are currently in the glory times for our club, despite the sentiment on here sometimes and under performing this season. We've never had such a good squad, never had so much money and never had such ambitious plans with such great owners. But the fear is that something happens (owners sell up, key injury to a key player) and it all goes wrong.

Personally as long as the current owners are in charge, I have a ton of faith. They won't get every decision right and will make mistakes, but they also have a proven track record of being able to build up businesses and grow them over time. That's their objective with Leicester City, but they are doing it in a collaborative way. They are genuinely trying to make a difference in Leicester and things like Stadium Expansion and Training Ground are awesome.

Anyway back on track, whoever steps into Mahrez's boots is on a hiding to nothing. They will never be able to live up to expectations straight away! Unless we get lucky, or smash the transfer record for a replacement. And even if did break our transfer record, there is no guarantee the new player will be a hit.

I'm still amazed how underrated Mahrez is by some of our fans. For me he gets in front of either Sterling or Sane quite quickly. He'll be something different for Man City and will be that special player who can break down a stubborn defence by going past players and breaking defensive formations up.

Mahrez has been the best attacking midfielder in the PL for the last three seasons by almost any metric you want. You could look at his stats or his highlight reel and it would be second to none all whilst playing right midfield in a 4-4-2 with low possession stats. He hasn't got the luxury of playing a role with little defensive responsibility in a high possession team like Sanchez, Hazard, Coutinho, etc.

I just find it staggering that Mahrez is talked about in the £50m bracket whilst Hazard is talked in the £100m bracket and he's been statistically inferior to Mahrez in the last three season despite usually playing behind the striker.

If we must let him go for £50-£60m then we should have add ons if Mahrez gets Balon d'Or top ten finishes that would take his price up to nearly £90m maximum depending on how high he finished. Man City paid £53m for a centre half who didn't make the France squad in January

I’ve said for a long time I think Mahrez gets into possibly every club side on the planet. If he can look as good as he does playing in front of Simmo and Amartey, imagine him down the right hand side along with Kyle Walker or Dani Carvajal. Mahrez will just get better in a better side. I still think he needs to get his move and the chapter closes.

Last season many were saying they would get rid for 20m and now 75 mil is not enough? lol

I do agree that 75m is a joke though, considering the current football economy in england. If a CB can go for 50m+, then arguably the best winger outside the top4 should go for at least 100m.

Over the last three seasons:

Mahrez 35 goals & 24 assists

Hazard 33 goals & 12 assists

Even then you have to take into account Mahrez has been playing in a 4-4-2 as RM with defensive responsibilities in a low possession team.

Hazard usually plays behind the striker and still doesn't match up.

I remember when Hazard won PFA POTY and the next season in our title winning year Mahrez had surpassed his goal and assist stats in January.

Hazard 33 goals 19 assists 7595 mins

Mahrez 35 goals 27 assists 8810 mins

Works out Mahrez has played an extra 13 and half games of football time wise

I’d rather we sold him to Roma for 50m than Man City for 75.

As for Shaqiri, after what he said about his fellow Stoke teammates being shit (even though he was right) I wouldn’t want him either.

I always say, "your best ability is availability". Think his injury-free record is a rarely talked about subject. It should easily add another 20 million to his price tag but little 'ol Leicester shouldn't be asking for a lot

I'm happy for Mahrez to go to Man City.  He is going to make the rest of the league improve. Maybe JM might let his boys play next year.

We are blessed to have had the pleasure of watching him play & I don't begrudge him his dreams.

He is replaceable by the way.

He's pretty much gone this summer.  It's been a pleasure to watch him since our Championship winning season.

We have some great long term potential in that role with Gray, Diabate and Roberts if he joins. None are going to replace his creativity over the next couple of seasons consistently.

So who do we get in that can, or I fear we will struggle massivley next season.

Whilst Mahrez has been an outstanding player for us I feel he can be replaced but never bettered, my fear is that if we lose Vardy this summer that is when we will struggle, Mahrez has had a remarkable injury free run and will be an asset to any team in world football so good luck to him and we will move on, but please don’t get tempted to sell Vardy.... :(

Up the City... :scarf:

Reports of Man Utd wanting Toby Alderweireld from Spurs and they are likely to Pay around £70 Million.. just shows how much we are being stitched up for a world class player with world class stats.

Whilst I agree and I really really do, my personal belief is we shouldn’t sell for a penny less than £100 million pounds

however to get rid of a potentially unhappy player making waves in the dressing room (and let’s be honest his mardy antics this season derailed the season let’s not kid ourselves) we should just get rid now for as much as possible, if that is £60 million plus add ons going up to £75 million then so be it

i agree and people are taking advantage of the unhappy player thing. i assume that is why the transfer request was withdrawn..

Yes just so the greedy money obsessed player doesn’t lose his “loyalty” bonus I presume

he is worth 60m all day long, would be an even better player for a club like Man City and the space he will have, would be class if we could keep him for one more season but highly unlikely.

you lose a loyalty bonus if you put a transfer request in it does not matter if you withdraw it because that's breaking the condition of a loyalty bonus putting one in, in the first place.

So he lost that last year anyway.
