So the plan is to sell Mahrez and buy Townsend? Is this a sick joke posted by Forest fans? Feeling quite ill at this thought, so it's working.

And then the club have the audacity to charge £15 for a friendly to season ticket holders and £20 to non after losing our star player and replacing him with shite lol

If Rudkin thinks signing Townsend is a good idea, then he needs a brain transplant.

What has rudkin got to do with it? He doesn't pick the players.

Only reason this would make sense, is if Palace are actively trying to sell, to fund other player purchases. Think he is still quite a key player for them though having played 36 games last season, so can't see this happening unless we pay a huge amount.

As DoF he should prevent such grave errors of judgement from taking place. We have suffered enough costly cock-ups don‘t you think?

I'm pretty sure he has been mentioned in the last 3 or 4 windows so that is 3 managers who all fancy the idea of signing him or one DOF

Or the scouting department or the head of scouting who are, you know, paid to select the players.

Seriously sub standard and not much of a team player also

Definitely not

Not a team player? You should go and read the Palace forum, he's the epitome of that.

This is the guy who played for Spurs, ran down the right wing, cut inside and blasted the ball at, or more usually over the goal. The same guy who played for Newcastle and Palace and suddenly found a football brain and became an integral part of their team. Not sure why there is so much angst against him. He is no Mahrez - we aint gonna get another Mahrez - but I would welcome him here.

This is the same Townsend involved in an 8-0 aggregate victory over us last season. Thought he played well at our place and put a good ball in for Benteke for their opener as I remember. He is no world beater, but would welcome him in to our squad. Incidently, I'm not convinced we are in for him anyhow.

Having had a good look at those whom we are linked with, wingers, I’m now convinced we’re going to end up with Townsend, to replace Mahrez on the right

Everyone else is going elsewhere, if the press are to be believed.

Shaqiri to Liverpool

Ziyech to Roma

Elyounoussi gone to Saints

etc etc

it may be the case that we are happy with the number of wingers we have, and we are looking to replace Mahrez’s creativity by buying No.10s, Maddison and A Nother.?

At least with Townsend we know he can cut it in the prem. I’d take him provided he doesn’t cost the world.

Yeah, there is that. Maybe he’s one of these underrated types. 7 assists last season tbf.

Can we just close this please?  expect the unexpected with Leicester but we are not going to replace Mahrez with Townsend......i think

To be clear, I don’t think anyone is suggesting we’re going to replace Mahrez (in terms of what he brings to the team, stats, creativity, flair etc) with Townsend. Maddison will bring a lot back to the team, that is lost through the sale of Mahrez. But we may be replacing the loss of a winger, in Mahrez, with another winger, in Townsend

It wouldn't make that much sense to me.  If palace wanted to sell to buy a better player then we should be aiming to bring in a better player too.
