Sorry but they were right. That game was England’s for the taking at half time. But we sat back and the goal inevitably followed.

Well it's been quite a journey, never thought we'd get this far I thought we'd go out in the group stage.

 

Congratulations to each and every one of them. Yes we should have taken our chances in the first half but I have no complaint with the result. They were the better team ultimately. Won the midfield battle.

 

It's hard to be too critical of Gareth...I think he's not been decisive enough at times and I think we left ourselves really short of midfield options. But we'll be quite a team in 4 years time with a bit more nous and a bit more experience.

Just to digress but I got told to fvck off by several posters for saying it, but Vardy should have been subbed on whilst there was still time for him to make a difference.

Hes' bound to be gutted, not just because England are out, but on a personal level that he wasn't given a chance...

We didn’t have the conviction to finish them off and that’s such a shame.

Well deserved win for Croatia, by far the better side from 50 minutes onwards. We simply couldnt find any way to wrest back control once they started putting the pressure on, got Modric into the game and got the fullbacks bombing on. 

 

No scapegoats, but Southgate got it wrong. Felt Delph or RLC was needed alongside Dier or Henderson to try and disrupt their midfield. Plus, we desperately needed Kane to hold it up and help us get up the pitch when the pressure came and he failed to do so. I understand why Southgate didn't do it, but the sensible football decision would have been to take him off after 70 odd minutes. At least if we were going to hoof it, we could have Vardy and Rashford turning those balls into a challenge for their defence.

 

Still, good tournament, and good to have a England side worth supporting.
