Guest Markyblue Posted 3 August 2018 Posted 3 August 2018 I think the lad is copping for many fans frustrated that a great start to the transfer window has fizzled out. I know there won't be a straight replacement for mahrez and certainly not anybody better but 4 years as a premiership team including being champions should maybe end the eating at the bottom table and give us a chance to look nearer the top end .

Diabate is still a player in development and I expect will be in and out the team, whereas Gray hasn't shown a consistency yet to start every game. We need 5 wingers IMO, including Gray, Diabate, Albrighton, Rachid and a starting RW, hopefully a top player. We have 38+ games and cup comps that we should really look to try and win. All 5 players will get game time. I suspect Gray will start on the left and share that role with Albrighton, whereas Rachid will share the right side with the "new signing". Diabate to play cup games and also used as cover on the bench etc. I've never liked the whole rotation thing. I think it contributed to some of our worst football last season. If you have a settled first 11 why keep changing it every week. Look at us when we won the league, when MON was in charge, look at teams like Burnley.

And how fortunate we were with little to no injuries in that league win. We've suffered from lack of squad depth for years now. If Maddison gets injured... who do we have to create something? If Maguire or Evans do, do you really want Morgan or Benny starting for how ever many games? Same with our options out wide. We have Gray and Diabate, who shouldn't really be starting for a top 10 Premier League side, and Albrighton who hasn't looked himself for a long time. Adding one extra player in Rachid, who hardly played last season and is untested in the Premier League, just won't be enough. An additional winger who can come straight into the starting 11, is a must IMO.

He thought his likely destination would be the Championship. 18 months later he was lifting the title in the Premier League. My point is that players go through good and bad spells. A decent environment and you never know. I can only think he is coming to start with Albrighton/Diabate off to the bench. Tbf Huth had a bit of pedigree 2 times premier league winner 3rd in the World Cup even if if he hadn’t played he was a good person to be around the squad 1

You make it sound as if we're facing the point of no return and have no more leeway to consider. There will be a few more outs and a few more ins.

He like most fans have a right to be annoyed and feel let down by the club. They have just sold the club's most technically gifted player in the history of the football club and the best they have got is those geezer who will not beat diabate or gray in the starting line up. I do understand that you will only sign class players if you play attractive football and maybe our targets have looked at CP style of play and decided to avoid. I don't beleave for one second we are not a attractive club to play for not only that we pay great wages aswel. We started the transfer window so well and I believe we were ahead of the races but look like one of the weaker teams in the premier now. You really can't say that for sure. I don't pay that much attention to European football these days but you have to give players a chance. We did that for 'the clubs most technically gifted player in history' as you put it, didn't we? How much do you know about him? I know very little. Seems harsh to write someone off before they've even arrived though. The part about players avoiding the club because of Puel's style of play seems quite unrealistic too. Who has said that? Has that become the new stick to beat Puel with? Have you simply regurgitated what some player was supposed to have said about Mourinho a couple of days ago and applied it to Puel? I also don't agree that we look one of the weaker teams in the prem now. Edited 3 August 2018 by Max Wall
