His videos show he has some technical ability (like Riyad did, when he came) and though in his mid-20s that technical ability, with the right programme, coaching and man management could be an asset. Writing him off from the getgo would be foolish. Can't think of many examples in that mould apart from Ben Arfa (and even that just in parts) - otherwise, it's just a myth endlessly perpetuated. The reason why we're in talks with Ghezzal is his cheap asking price and his potential to steady the ship at right wing - he is one of many options we're apparently considering. But I have my doubts over the potential of a 26-year old who recently made more headlines with questionable actions on the pitch and personal problems off the field, living off the reputation of one half a season with Olympique Lyonnais. I'd be underwhelmed at Ghezzal signing for us, but for £4.5m, there's little to moan about from a financial point of view. Edited 3 August 2018 by MC Prussian 2
Ian Nacho Posted 3 August 2018 Posted 3 August 2018 Diabaté cost a couple of million and he was playing in a league below Ghezzal, who all be it isn't a first string player but is at one of the best clubs in the French league. Only for about three million more than Diabaté. Don't really see the problem people have with him. We spent a total of around £60m on Mendy, Musa and Slimani, we got really excited because of their statistics and the overall perception of them as players. We of all people should know you should never judge a player, neither positivity or negatively. 3

No. It’s a personal opinion based only upon my reaction to his interviews and observable actions. It is probably very unfair. Klopp I could see inspiring me. Puel I couldn’t.

kingfox Posted 3 August 2018 Posted 3 August 2018 Fans are not necessarily writing him off, if we do sign him then it's just extremely underwhelming. He's the type of player a struggling team would sign on loan in January when they are fighting relegation.

Used to get wound up like others on here but the one thing that completely changed my way of thinking was this.... Even though I hadn't seen him play I, like many others, was gutted we missed out on Aranguiz in that fateful summer, then this happened http://www.espn.co.uk/football/soccer-transfers/story/2546487/leicester-sign-ngolo-kante-from-caen-but-aranguiz-not-keen

SheppyFox Posted 3 August 2018 Posted 3 August 2018 11m is peanuts nowadays. He did well at Lyon, one year had 8goals 8assists in 29 apps, he played regularly for Monaco too I think, been googling his Monaco stats aren’t as impressive but surely to regularly feature for them he must be half decent.
