There's plenty of reason to find this signing horrifying, he's never been a regular since he's turned professional, even in 2015/16 when he had his best season at Lyon. He's either injury prone or just struggles to prove his worth. It's clutching at straws to think he'll come here and be anything different, but it's quite clear on his day he's very capable.

This is a Puel signing if ever I've seen one, hope it works out. Quite feasible we'll pay a decent amount for a poorly regarded player on a 4 year deal and then the manager who stands a chance of getting something out of him is sacked within a few months and it's millions down the shitter again.

Welcome Rachid, no pressure.

He's going to be one of them that gets played constantly despite being awful isn't he, just because he was the managers pick. Not happy with that fee at all, absolutely ridiculous if it's that the amount.

He did say Mascia left months ago yet there is no indication of that. But im

not getting into that again.

He only needs to read this lot to be encouraged to run as far away from our club as possible.

Hopefully it will have the reverse affect. Poor sod as soon as he puts a foot wrong!!!. Hope he has broad shoulders.

£4m was just about bearable but the fact we are spending £14m for a guy with those stats just screams of desperation  lol

Potentially almost 30 million spent on a backup keeper and a winger that’s had half a good season in his career, wonderful

The sum was made up thanks to a tweet from 2016 and an alleged medical at Everton back then. £11m was the sum in question back then, which is nearer the 14 million Euro that has popped up now.

No way will we pay a bit-part player at Monaco almost three times the amount originally mentioned.

I hate Social Media in that regard, tons of unsubstantiated rumours and figures.

Spend the money if we have it on a first team player not a squad player! This is stupidity imo, it’s clear as daylight we need an upgrade in the winger position.

give the lad a fecking break slagging him off even before he has signed!! how many of our current squad played in the Champions League last season? Moreove how many would get into Monaco's team?

But neither did this fella...I think that’s the point of some of the negative posts.

Wouldn't be my choice, but it looks like a done deal so if he wears the shirt I'm going to get behind him.

I didn't think we would be signing a top drawer replacement for Riyadh but I assumed that whoever came in would at least be a regular for their current club.

Time will tell.

I don't want another winger coming in after this we have the cover now, and need a signing or two elsewhere.

We’ve been told multiple times by a reliable guy this isn’t the name signing and it isn’t the last signing, I feel relaxed.

Me too Sheps.  Still hoping for some Amazonian Rain Forest style culling of the deadwood though.

A typically reliable ITK fin has hinted this won’t be the last or the name signing we’re craving ?

No doubt we'll be scrambling on transfer deadline day again. We must have known for a year  (the very least 6 months) that Mahrez will need to be replaced and it's starting to feel like panic stations already...

Or maybe the coaching staff wanted to see how Barnes, Diabate, Kaputska, Gray etc were doing in pre-season?

Were going to beat our transfer record. No not the price the "big name " signing will happen 13 seconds to late and he'll start in January.

This signing would be fine if fee was 5mil and we were for another solid winger

Fin said it’s around 5m

People putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5. I think Maddison was signed to largely replace the creativity loss of Mahrez.

Why do we think that we have to go like for like in that wide area? Maddison will hopefully link up play between midfield and Vardy/Nacho, something we failed to do last season from central areas.

I think this potential new signing will add again some more creativity to open up defences, but we can't afford to put our eggs in one basket like last year. Gray/Albrighton/Diabate will also be more than capable to contribute with assists and goals.
