That’s not the rule.  That’s your interpretation of the rule.  The defender placed himself in a dangerous position...not vardy.  That’s the rule.

Is it not?

A tackle or challenge that endangers the safety of an opponent or uses excessive force or brutality must be sanctioned as serious foul play.

Any player who lunges at an opponent in challenging for the ball from the front, from the side or from behind using one or both legs, with excessive force or endangers the safety of an opponent is guilty of serious foul play.

Anyway good debating chaps. Probably the worst behaviour today comes from me given my wife's mother died out the blue this AM and here I am debating a red card. Night folks

Vardy was so close to snapping the guy's leg/knee in half and people think it's not a red?

Let's be honest here, it was a bad challenge and I'm happy no one got seriously hurt.

Anyone arguing that Vardy’s challenge didn’t warrant a red needs to get in their house, shut the curtains, lock the doors and don’t emerge again until they’ve thought things through.

I've done this, thought things through, still not a red.

Have no idea how people think Vardy shouldn't have been sent off....yes he got the ball but there's something in the law about excessive force and he could have broken the lads leg.

Re Vardy - the proof of the pudding will be in the eating. Let's see if the club appeal it - I highly doubt they will somehow.

They're not going to.

I remember Walshie taking out a player in one of the playoff finals.  Took the ball first, followed by the player and then some.

Shrug of the shoulders and get on with it.  No cards given.

How the game has changed.  Today's red wasn't even for a challenge on the ball!

The game is becoming too soft.

All over the place at the start, could've been two down early on but after we scored it settled us and we were mainly in control. It was a red card, Vardy was high and it was such a needless tackle to make, fortunately we didn't lose our composure after that and saw it out comfortably.

Felt Ndidi and Mendy were the best throughout the game, Maddison had a good 15-minute spell before half-time, Gray had lively moments, both full-backs grew into their roles and Schmeichel looked assured.

Will take the points, performance could be better and need to cut out the indiscipline.

But it wasnt a tackle. A tackle suggests the other player was in control of the ball. The reality is that 2 players went for a free ball and came from different angles. Vardy got there 1st and won the ball. The Wolves lad arrived late and was caught by the follow through

Ok it was a challenge is you want to argue semantics. It was still wreckless, it was still excessive and out of control. Hence why he ends up studding him well above the knee.

Vardy deserved the red. He could have broken his own leg, let alone the Wolves player. The tackle I feel was born out of frustration on his part due to his lack of involvement in the game. He’s an isolated figure at times these days and up until that point in the second half he’d seen little of the ball. I think he held onto the ball too long and then his frustration at losing it made him boil over and commit the foul.

In the first half Evans was a car crash. I couldn’t understand him playing on the right hand side of the two centre halves. He’s left footed.

Second half he improved but wasn’t particularly tested. Wes’ legs are no doubt going, but I don’t remember him ever being beaten twice so easily by a player simply knocking it past him and running into our box in the same half.

Morgan wouldn't get beaten that easily out wide, I'd say his hustling of forwards is a big part of his game. Evans seemed reluctant to tackle though I appreciate he wasn't fully up to speed.

It did show the importance of keeping Maguire though.

He’s right footed just has a good weak foot hence why he played on the left for wba

I’m 95% sure he’s left footed.

Yes, I agree and it's what I alluded to earlier. Vardy may be our talisman, our figurehead, our highest paid player even, but I just don't see how he fits now.

If he could come back to the ball more, play closer to his teammates, get more involved and facilitate play, perhaps he could find a way. But as it stands, it is often like we are playing a man down because he doesn't come back for the ball, keen as he is to make runs in behind the defense. Which might be fine if we were looking for those sorts of passes, but the main passes he gets these days are Albrighton crosses. He can still score goals, but we cannot have a striker who is so isolated and who doesn't get shots on goal because he plays too deep to get the ball on a consistent basis, it just won't work with this system, and frankly, it has gotta suck for Vards.

Nah I'm pretty sure he said he was more comfortable on the right when he was at Man Utd.

The game is becoming too soft.

The amount of broken bones and career ending injuries was way higher then.....its changed for a reason.

Personally i dont take pleasure in watching injuries like Ramsey's or Eduardo's so i'll take the softening of the game as you put it if players don't fly in like it and if they do theyre rightfully punished.

Even Vardy admitted after the game he should have been sent off. Notice how he didnt protest?

In fairness, there's literally no point appealing any red card short of mistaken identity. The FA shut up shop and just dismiss any appeal to protect the refs, then hand out an extra ban for challenging them.

But played left back loads under Pulis? He’s left footed but maybe he prefers playing on the right. They switched in the second half.

Anyway, he didn’t have a good game at all.

Couldn't believe how bad Evans was first half, Jota and Jimenez were dominating him. Good mental strength to turn it around and come out looking far more composed after the break. Equally, couldn't believe how good Mendy was - energetic, quick passing, kept things ticking over really nicely. Hope he kicks on and stays injury free.

Chilwell, Maddison and Gray all did well again. Shout out to the three subs too, must have touched the ball about five times between them but worked hard and helped keep shape towards the end. Well in Claude.

Publis would play a centre half at left wing if he could.

I just remember a United fan telling me he was poor on the left side and it wasn't til he was on the right side he was decent and Evans said so.

In fact I now find this http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2136195/Jonny-Evans-feels-happier-playing-right-Manchester-Uniteds-defence.html

Think he was fine second half, started atrociously but we were all over the shop defensively to begin with.

You could argue that Vardy didn't initiate a challenge or a tackle, he simply kicked the ball. His opponent came out the worst because he made a late challenge.

No point appealing it though. The FA rarely overturn a referee's decision and it will only result in an extended ban.

Ahh the view of a true neutral.

I should've just wished for the guy to get a possible carrier-ending injury or be a hypocrite and claim that wasn't a red, huh?
