Helicopter crash

Been going since the late 60s and the ups and downs of Leicester City are all part of it. Our Chairman and family changed our fortunes dramatically and in the process gave us pre season games against teams at the start of that journey we could only dream of playing against. There have been numerous other gestures we are all aware of both to us and the wider community.

 

On our big day I saw men of my age in tears of mixed emotions. Tears of obvious joy but also remembrance as  I heard quite a number of voices over the course of the day  say 'I wish my Dad could have been here to see this'. It felt great to have my own now 18yrs old son next to me who has been with going with me since the age of 5, it's our day together.

 

Today, as well as the larger family I think of Top who it increasingly it looks like has lost his Dad, in these ways he is exactly the same as us. What incredible things they have achieved together? What tremendous personal moments they must have shared! How difficult then it will be, for all the obvious reasons, when and if he returns to the ground. How absolutely horrendous and sad. Our heartfelt love and thoughts go out to Top and his family and all those affected.

Tough to wake up and see this wasn't all just a bad dream. I feel so sad for everyone involved with our club - a truly heartbreaking tragedy that we will struggle to get our heads around for a long time.

The title in 2016 would never have happened without this great, kind, compassionate, level-headed, down-to-earth amazing man. 

 

He's personally responsible for an unbelievable, euphoric, crazy but brief period of all of our lives. 

 

Every cheer, every look of awe, every drunken song, every impromptu celebratory night out, every laugh, every new friendship formed by bonding over something that just did not make sense to us is largely down to him. 

 

It's not a stretch to say he's responsible for millions of happy memories and that he never truly understood the positive effect he had on our city in spring 2016.

 

This will be his legacy. That a whole city show this much love to a man they've never met when the majority of owners either attract hatred or apathy.

I've just had a pang of pain thinking about Top right now. I can't imagine how hard this will be for him and his siblings. I wouldn't be surprised if he took a  some time away from the club to grieve. It might even be too hard for him to ever come back.

Just following up my message last night, think I speak on behalf of Wolves fans everywhere when I say how deeply sorry we all are for what has happened, and our deep, deep sympathies are with you all. 

 

I posted it on our forum, but thinking about you guys, suddenly our result yesterday seems so unimportant.

The game as a whole was the better for the involvement of a true gentleman and benefactor. A shining light and an example to other owners. The thoughts of Rangers fans are with LCFC and the wider Leicester community that he benefited so much.    Hoping for a miracle.

This from West Ham forum - not sure about the video he claims to have seen. Doesn't add much to the situation but here it is anyway...

 

 

Edit: Just saw a video of the people who boarded the helicopter, and the helicopter lifting off. It did not look like Claude Puell was among the people, but there were at least 5 people including 2 women who got on board. I'm assuming it was the owner and friends. The helicopter did not look right when it lifted off. Man, what a nightmare.

Anybody been to the ground to leave flags,flowers etc...is there somewhere that you can leave them? Just want to some how much Top etc... how much his family mean to me and mine even though I have never met them.Gave us some of the best days of our life’s.

Still can’t believe it, was hoping it was a nightmare. Was driving past the stadium probably 10 mins before it, and just turned around due to traffic, heard the helicopter come in and thought nothing off it. 

Just seems surreal, like it still hasn’t happened. Numb. Hoping all the best for everyone involved and around the club and hope we can all gather around and show support to the family and community.

Sad sad day for the football club and the family. The father and son relationship always seemed very close and feel for Top who, wherever he is in the world must be absolutely devastated. 

 

Thoughts and prayers with the family. They’ve done so much for the club but also as people for the wider community. Heartbreaking.

Just been watching BBC news. Looks like there’s an area where people can put flowers etc down as a sign of respect. Tempted to go myself.

Near the family stand turnstiles by the looks of it. Feel like I need to go down but not sure I can take it.

 

If I do I certainly don’t want to be filmed doing it like ive just seen on twitter.

They say it's only football and, of course, part of it is. What happened on the pitch yesterday, that's the football bit.

 

But then something like this happens and rips you open and you realise it's more than just football. It's not even football.  What you feel, what we feel, is identity, belief, belonging - and it's shared. I am Leicester City, we are Leicester City.... and we are in shock.

 A you tube video shows the copter leaving the stadium and people walking to the copter. 

 

Not sure how real it is.

 

A slight hope that the silence from the club could mean that survivors are being treated in hospital, prayers to all involved with the club.  Reading tweets from other clubs and fans are what upsets me.  Lets hope in all of this a miracle can come out of it, however small it maybe.

Get up on stage and tell them how you feel Lee. Show's you're human and have emotions like everyone else. Your audience will respect you more for it mate.
