ShrimperGaz Posted 30 October 2018 Posted 30 October 2018 In a footballing world of owners and chairmen in it for vanity or a quick buck, Vichai was a unique character. Embracing not only your club, but the wider community, I'm sure he will be greatly missed. My thoughts are with the family and friends of Vichai, as well as those of the others that lost their lives this sad week. I truly believe his legacy will live forever in Leicester City. Gary
Nickfosse Posted 30 October 2018 Posted 30 October 2018 A few weeks ago, I decided to stop reading foxestalk. The negativity around, well, virtually anything and everything was starting to anger me more than an Internet forum should. I wanted to scream to anyone and everyone, you don’t know how lucky you are to be supporting Leicester City in this period of our history. We have had, and are still having the most amazing time and are in wonderful hands. Then came the tragedy on Saturday evening. Tentatively, I clicked back on this site and I’m so pleased I did. The comments and thoughts expressed here have been exceptional and have captured just what this beautiful man and his family mean to us, the supporters of our club. I was talking to a Coventry fan this morning and trying to explain that our connection with the owners goes far beyond title wins, beers, cake and scarves. It has been so obvious from almost day one that they love the club as much as we do. They do what we would do if we were billionaires and have gone even further, conducting themselves with dignity and humility. On a personal note they have given me the best years of my footballing supporting life. I have been so fortunate. I have been a supporter for 45 years and a season ticket holder since the year after league one promotion. I have met up with my family at games and 2015/16 was not only a perfect storm for the club but for my Leicester City supporting family. It was one of the few years when my dad, mum, brother and four boys aged from 10-17 could all be together to enjoy that incredible year and subsequent Champions League nights. Any earlier and my youngest would struggle to remember, two years later and my dad has had to relinquish his ST struggling with the cold in the winter and my mum is now too disabled to get out. My eldest is now on Sports Science placement on Saturdays and cant make every game. As others have said, it’s more than a game. It’s about family, friends, highs and lows, joys and disappointment. In other words it captures life. Without Vichai none of this would have been my family’s experience and treasured memory. I never met him to speak to, but when the Premier League trophy was lifted and paraded he walked past the east stand wher I sit on the second row and our eyes met. I put my hands together in the eastern sign of thanks, praise and honour. Typically, he smiled gently and honoured me back. It’s a moment I will never forget. Since that day, I stay to the end of every game and clap the players off even when we’ve been beaten, and I stayed on at the end of the last game of last season to applaud and thank them once more. Thank you Vichai, you have given me and my family immense joy over the past eight years. You will never be forgotten and will forever be honoured at Leicester City.

btswift94 Posted 30 October 2018 Posted 30 October 2018 Pearson's Message It is with extreme difficulty that I write to express and offer my sincere condolences and support to the Srivaddhanaprabha and wider King Power family. The tragic and shocking events of Saturday evening have impacted the football world in such a profound way with the news of Khun Vichai’s passing. His quiet yet authoritative aura, presence and personality have had an immeasurable influence on English football. The leadership and managerial processes he instilled and encouraged within Leicester City over a sustained period of time has borne fruit in such a way that people throughout the world witnessed the impossible by seeing a club win the Premier League in the most incredible circumstances. This most definitely ensured the belief that sporting miracles can happen. I have been privileged to manage both clubs owned by King Power, and at Oud-Heverlee Leuven in Belgium, have the task of building a club which can emulate King Power’s success in England. My regret is that he will not see the fruition of his vision. It is an important point to remember that, with both clubs, he chose to invest in clubs with potential, to nurture a club with a soul and culture founded on sound values, rather than achieving a ‘quick fix’. He has invested not just substantial financial support, but invested in the people and communities of these clubs. We here at Oud-Heverlee Leuven are still at an early stage, but the dual investment has been substantial. On a personal level, a manager could not have wished for a better boss. I have, through both good and difficult times, been afforded an unwavering support which has been a huge motivator and, in personally difficult times, a huge comfort. His warmth, humour and generosity have always been extended to my own family, something for which we will all be eternally grateful for. I will miss his guidance and wisdom – and certainly his mischievous sense of humour and singular chuckle! Our thoughts, of course, must now be with Khun Vichai’s immediate family, as well as the King Power family, and I’m sure the wider football world will offer some solace for his loved ones. I will miss 'The Boss'.
GeorgeTheFox Posted 30 October 2018 Posted 30 October 2018 Can't get a good enough photo to do it justice but I'm sure more will surface
Jace Posted 30 October 2018 Posted 30 October 2018 Would be great if Andrea Bocelli could come back and sing time to say goodbye at 1 of our next home matches, get all previous players back, Pearson, Ranieri etc as a tribute

Russell sprout Posted 30 October 2018 Posted 30 October 2018 To say time is a healer I’m struggling with, everytine I log on here or see a picture of him I find myself feeling emotional, when out driving for work I find myself daydreaming thinking about him, i find it really hard to not feel emotionally attached to this, he for me in ways was like the father I never had, the person that shown me the importance of generosity, how dreams can come true, through experiencing those father son moments down at the kp, though on separate parts of the stadium he was someone I looked up to, aspired to be like, everything you look for in a dad, though not flesh and blood I feel like I’ve lost the best part of me, but it won’t ruin me cuz people like vicha wouldn’t want that, his legacy will make me a better person, and I know one day me and him will meet again
urban.spaceman Posted 30 October 2018 Posted 30 October 2018 Decided to go down after all and pay my respects this morning. I was simply blown away. The floral tribute is even bigger than it looks online or on TV. At least 10 metres deep and 200 metres long so far. I took a picture but it just doesn’t do it justice. Left one of my oldest scarves from the late 90’s; I was struck by just how many scarves and shirts there were from clubs all over the country and even some from further afield - I spotted one from the Czech Republic! I found it extremely moving and Incredibly humbling. So many people just milling about, leaving flowers and their own tributes. Brought me to tears. I wonder if the ground staff can reuse the flowers somehow? Compost them and incorporate them in the new training ground or the pitch as a lasting tribute. The books of condolences are under a marquee but there were so many people queuing I didn’t have the time to join. Nor do I think I could have found the words without welling up. I urge you to go down if you can make it. RIP Vichai.

At first when I saw people putting flowers there on Sunday, I wasn't sure it was for me but now I feel like I absolutely have to go. Going to take my son tonight. We were there together in our club's finest hour, so we should be there in it's darkest.
onekeithweller Posted 30 October 2018 Posted 30 October 2018 I'm sad that I can't get to Leicester to pay my respects, for the present at least, but to honour Vichai I'm opening my finest bottle of wine to drink to him and in a spirit of fellowship I have unblocked everyone on here that I've previously ignored; even the ones I had to think twice about. Bless you Vichai x
orangecity23 Posted 30 October 2018 Posted 30 October 2018 I'm going to pop down tonight or tomorrow after work to put down some flowers. Where are people parking when they go down there? One of my friends is coming who can't walk that far, so I'll need to get somewhere close-ish, and aren't most of the side streets nearby permit parking only? I suppose I could always park at the NCP near Welford Road in the last resort.

FoyleFox Posted 30 October 2018 Posted 30 October 2018 Sky have posted a tribute montage, this was a tough watch with the music.
FoyleFox Posted 30 October 2018 Posted 30 October 2018 For anyone attending there is tea and coffee being provided, the most Vichai thing to do. Stupidly, this has set me off again
