Good point tbf.

Maybe it was more about Rudkin than the dwarf?

Suspect they re-bonded over their mutual hatred of Rudkin

I’ll be in the minority but I never fully took to Kasper as one of our own / band of brothers type

He was absolutely brilliant for us, but personally always felt that Kasper was about Kasper and had an earlier opportunity come calling, he’d have gone.

No hate towards him at all, but I still think more fondly of Wes, Fuchs, Shinji etc

He's said several times that he never wanted to leave the club.

  • "'I never wanted to leave Leicester,' the 37-year-old goalkeeper admitted. 'It was a weird situation, in the sense that I was coming into the last year of my contract, I was turning 35 we had the World Cup and this offer from Nice came in. "
  • "To then see what happened the season after was awful. I spent every Saturday watching the games, and it wasn't fun to watch."
  • "Kasper Schmeichel: I’d have loved to stay at Leicester . . . of course I’d go back"
  • Honestly, I never wanted to leave. I love Leicester. The club, the city, and especially the fans. It’s all my kids have ever known, and we’re forever emotionally attached to Leicester City in every way.

Seems odd to come to the stadium and then decide not to go on the pitch with other players you've been with...

Bad ending to his lcfc career here so obviously  fell out with a few of the hierarchy and players

He had to rush off to catch a flight so couldn’t go out onto the pitch

Thanks, he was saying goodbye to them all so that makes sense.

Good to see him just a shame he couldn't get on the pitch for a good cheer. It wasn't right he got no proper send off

Pretty much all the title side got to leave on their terms; whether that was retiring, moving on etc. Yet Kasper was pushed out, didn't get to say goodbye, didn't get that moment etc

Yes he did. It was well known at the time. However, he decided to bury the hatchet and take that poison chalice and by doing so prove that he was never "one of us".

He showed that today by not being on the pitch with Wes, Shinji Marc and others that really did want to play for us.

IMO he was being paid well, and of course wanted to perform well to showcase himself to the football world, and to his dad, but he really cared less about LCFC than he he did about KS.

He was pretty much the last leader left in that squad at the time.

Probably so, but his game had started to drop off.

Look at the number of soft goals KS let in from set pieces in his last season with us.

Given he'd had the same coaches for ten years, and Danny Ward was his main "competition", perhaps it's no surprise he lost focus.

In addition  he was one of the highest earners at City, at a time when the club was making heavy losses (which have still not been fully explained) and PSR was starting to become an issue.

So when the chance came to move him on, Rudkin and Rodgers took it.

I’m sure Kasper’s one of the ones who will come back to work at the club after his playing days are over.

Either in a Birch role or as a coach like Kingy.

What a load of absolute crap! Why bother even turning up if he had the attitude you say. He doesn’t exactly live round the corner. As for playing for Celtic, why does that not make him “one of us”. If JV has a season at Celtic does that mean he’s no longer one of us? He was brilliant for us and made sure we held on at the Cup Final with 2 outstanding saves. He was always very professional and showed his passion in matches and his commitment. Perhaps the problem here is that you never considered him one of us. When we won the league, he was watching the game at Chelsea with his family in Manchester, then felt the need to drive down to Vardy’s house to celebrate with his teammates. You need to give your head a wobble.

This is all bollocks by the way.

It was well rumoured at the time, but that doesn't make it known fact.

Everything posted above disagrees heavily with your take here, especially the post claiming that he had to leave early to catch a flight, which was why he wasn't on the pitch.

The man was literally left traumatised after being literally dragged away from the helicopter wreckage he tried to enter. He dreamt of being a one club player like his dad and spent 11 years at the club he chose to do that with, with a Premier League trophy and an FA Cup to reward him for that loyalty.

He has made it clear that he was not happy about having to leave, and all signs pointing to the fact that it wasn't his choice to leave.

Questioning the man's loyalty after everything he's done for this club is beyond disrespectful.

He was a genuinely world class keeper, who decided to spend over a decade of his life to Leicester City.

His dad played for Gladsaxe-Hero, Brøndby, Man Utd., Man City, Sporting Lissabon and I think Aston Villa  -  thats not a "one club player" in my book
