- Statue of late Leicester City Chairman to be commissioned at King Power Stadium
- Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha tribute confirmed by his son and Vice Chairman, Aiyawatt
- Honour reflects Khun Vichai’s remarkable impact on the Club and its community
- Aiyawatt reaffirms commitment to his father’s memory and legacy
- Plans announced ahead of memorial fixture against Burnley on Saturday

Khun Vichai’s son and City’s Vice Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha confirms the news in a personal tribute to his father in a souvenir programme for Saturday’s Premier League visit of Burnley.

Complimentary copies will be issued to all supporters attending Saturday’s fixture as part of the Club’s tributes to Khun Vichai and the four people that lost their lives in a helicopter accident outside King Power Stadium on 27 October.

Khun Aiyawatt, known affectionately to the Leicester City family as ‘Top’, makes the announcement following discussions between the Srivaddhanaprabha family and the Club on the most appropriate way to honour his father’s memory and the Club’s remarkable journey under his Chairmanship.

In the eight years since the Srivaddhanaprabha family took ownership of Leicester City, Khun Vichai helped transform the Club beyond all recognition.

We will never be able to repay what he did for us – for me as his son, us as his family, everyone connected to Leicester City and beyond – but we are committed to honouring his memory and upholding his legacy.

Under his guidance, the Foxes established themselves in English football’s top flight, became Premier League champions and graced the UEFA Champions League for the first time.

His impact on the city of Leicester was immense – donating millions of pounds to worthy causes in the community and uniting supporters like never before with his acts of kindness and generosity.

“We will never be able to repay what he did for us – for me as his son, us as his family, everyone connected to Leicester City and beyond – but we are committed to honouring his memory and upholding his legacy,” Khun Aiyawatt writes.

“Our continued growth as a Club, our state-of-the-art new training ground and our planned stadium expansion will help realise his vision for Leicester City.

He will forever be in our hearts. He will never be forgotten.

“I plan to commission a statue of my father, for outside King Power Stadium, as a permanent and fitting tribute to the man that made it all possible.

“He will forever be in our hearts. He will never be forgotten.”

Further details on the commissioning and the statue’s positioning at King Power Stadium will be confirmed in due course.

Plans for Saturday’s sold-out visit of Burnley include gifts of commemorative scarves, pin badges, clap banners and the souvenir programmes for supporters in attendance, while a very special ‘Tribute to Khun Vichai’ video will be shown on the big screens at 2:45pm.

Also designated as the Club’s annual Remembrance Fixture, all in attendance will be invited to join a two-minute silence to honour both the sacrifices of servicemen and women in conflicts past and present and the five victims of the tragedy at King Power Stadium on 27 October.

Supporters are advised to take their seats by 2:35pm.

Fitting.

Hope it actually looks like him and not like Salah & Ronaldo ones we've seen.

I presume this is the announcement for tomorrow aswell.

Our club, in the darkest of times, shows just how great it is with this kind of plan. The love for it grows stronger each day.

There was an interview on I think Radio Leicester with a Leicester fan that the family have commissioned multiple times in the past to make sculptures. I am guessing likely to be him again?

I'd imagine the statue would be in the memorial garden.

I think it will be in a more prominent position than there probably in front of the expanded East Stand so it can be seen when approaching the stadium

Huge credit to the club for getting this sorted so quickly whilst the tragedy itself is still very raw for everyone.

After seeing the remarkable way in which the club have handled everything in the last couple of weeks, I've got every faith in them to get it right.

A fitting tribute.

I hope they don't **** this up and hire a hamfisted sculptor. This has the opportunity to be truly awful if not done right.

It will be like the man himself...class

Since Khun Vichai bought the Club the Srivaddhanaprabha family have always done everything with a touch of class.

I'm 99.99% certain that a memorial statue of Vichai also be class.

So happy about this news however i'd have liked this to have been a supporters funded statue as a thank you to Vichai himself, Aiyawatt and the family but still, it's needed who ever pays for it irrelevant I guess!

He has to be doing the thumbs up.

I'm so pleased with how our club is being run. From top to bottom we've been first class for a good year now.  Just need to translate that onto the pitch.

Players that have earned contracts have got them, we've brought in some superb young talent, our training ground will soon be the best in the country, our stadium has an expansion in the pipeline and the best thing is the way we've handled this horrendous situation.

Everyone at the club can hold their heads high knowing that they're doing their work the right way.

Kind of conflicted really. I'm all for the statue of Khun Vichai, it's just the placement is raising litle concern - football is and always will be the most important thing at The King Power Stadium, Vichai was an outstanding owner & businessman with a passion for sport aswell as being a ruddy good chap but he never kicked a ball or stood on the touchline corralling his lads or called the shots tactically. He set the perfect familly atmosphere while letting it all grow harmoniously, showing trust to those he believed in and investing in the right areas with superb instinct.

I don't think he should be the first thing you see approaching the stadium as others have said, I think the West Side around the official entrance would be more appropriate. Still very prominant, not at all hiden away and from the same direction he can still watch over his team on the pitch.

Sorry, not a thumbs up pose for me.

There is no way it won't do, Top will have it rebuilt ten times if needs be haha.

Exactly, they changed all the blue lights in the tunnel because they were the wrong shade of blue.

This is going to be absolute spot on, they haven't cut corners on any thing they have ever done at this club. It won't start with this.
