Marc Albrighton says the Leicester City players are "absolutely drained" both mentally and emotionally after a tough few weeks at the club.

Former owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha was one of five people killed in a helicopter crash on October 27 and the Foxes played their first home game since his death on Saturday - a 0-0 Premier League draw with Burnley - when tributes were paid to the late Thailand businessman.

Chief executive Susan Whelan has given the entire squad, as well as everyone else working at the club - thought to be around 250 members of staff - Monday off work after an intense emotional period which saw most of the squad fly to Thailand and back for the funeral.

The King Power Stadium paid an emotional tribute to chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha prior to Leicester's first home game since the tragedy
Leicester winger Albrighton, who has been with the club for over four years, said on Saturday: "The last two weeks have been a bit of a blur and we've not really had time to reflect on everything that's happened.

"It's a good time to have a break and refocus. We're absolutely drained, mentally and emotionally. It's important that we get back to our families."

Leicester have announced there will be a statue built outside the King Power Stadium to honour the club's late owner.

Before Saturday's game, thousands of Leicester fans marched from Jubilee Square to the stadium in tribute to Srivaddhanaprabha.

Leicester's Harry Maguire and James Maddison led Saturday's march
His son Aiyawatt has vowed to carry on his father's legacy at the club but Albrighton says the squad are not yet sure what will happen in the future.

"He [Aiyawatt] is staying strong, staying positive, but he won't tell us anything that's going to happen moving forward.

"Everyone needs to realise he's a normal person with family and friends and he needs to spend time with them."

I'm not sure how many players we will have on international duty this time round but its a shame that they haven't all got this time off. I absolutely agree that normally international breaks are really frustrating but this one couldn't have come at a better time.

I hate International breaks but this one has come at just the right time. It's now a time for healing for all involved in the tragic accident.

You have to feel for Top and his Family, They've so much more to deal with that a week away from Football will give them a breather to gather themselves.

God bless you all.

Couldn’t agree more and hopefully Maguire’s injury is just a subterfuge for him to have a well earned rest.

Unfortunately I don't think that's the case. Genuine injury which may keep him out for a few weeks. Agree that the international break has come at a good time though.

I think they should all have the whole week off.

Agreed but they should all have a few days of 'light training' ie.. fifa 19

I was thinking this. To be honest I am glad of a break myself. It has been very intense leading up to the Burnley game and although my own feelings are nothing compared with the players and staff at the club, I think we all are glad of a week or so off.

I don't blame them!

Not just physically draining after all the travelling and extra commitments/lack of training, but mentally too dealing with grief of losing a loved one while trying to deal with the pressure of playing two games.

They've been absolutely magnificent. Almost no words to describe just how magnificent. They should all hold themselves in the highest regards as for how they've conducted themselves after such a tragedy. Well-earned break for the next couple of weeks and then we continue to do Vichai proud :)

They can't be if Sue Whelan has given EVERYBODY the day off.

Schmeichel and Evans should be starting, I'd guess Gray will be in the England u23 starting XI, and Söyüncü gets a lot of time for Turkey these days. Chilwell will probably get the one game vs USA. Iheanacho is has a long flight back and forth but IIRC he goes in and out of the lineup. I guess all things considered, it's not as heavy of an international break as others have been, and I don't mind that one bit. I kind of wish Schmeichel could get a few days to clear his head and take a deep breath.
