In France, he has the reputation of being kind of intense, even a bit crazy. For instance, during his first training session as a player under Wenger he violently tackled him. During pre-season training, he does all the stamina exercices, often finishing ahead of the players. During training sessions he lead, he plays as roughly as when he was a player. He is known to often yell and be very vocal when he is not ok with the way his players are acting. He even fist fighted some players several times also during training sessions... I talked about that several times, but the myth about his quietness still exist, because people only know him through pointless interviews. Sounds a bit like a french Stig Tofting...

People inside the club - staff, players etc - might beg to differ.

I'm sure you're smart enough to realise what people in football say publicly and what they think privately is not necessarily the same thing. This is a general point and not aimed at any individual player.

Can I ask, you know that video in which Danny Simpson is off his face singing a song into the camera? Were you somewhere there behind the scenes racking up lines of beak?

And, as it goes, I've never taken drugs or supplied them.
chapero82 Posted 3 January 2019 Posted 3 January 2019 It’s crazy how familiar this is though.. PS I’m not saying Puel out just saying it’s familiar how fans are turning on each other etc

They still managed to out play us twice in 16/17 weve seen first hand hand what a drsssing room looks like when they don’t like the manager and want him gone (Raneiri) and it’s been nothing like that with puel imo.

Rusko187 Posted 3 January 2019 Posted 3 January 2019 Their problems have stemmed from a change in ownership (which predominately there successes have come from), they've repeatedly sold all their best players, they recruited badly when they got rid of Puel with Pellegrino. I don't think it's very fair to lay their demise at his feet. He took them to a cup final and a solid finish in the league, not his fault they got rid and capitulated the following season.

I think the same as you if they didn’t like Puel they wouldn’t be fighting for him and won 3/4 games
HighPeakFox Posted 3 January 2019 Posted 3 January 2019 Fans blaming the manager for their own lack of civility - I've heard it all now.
Izzy Posted 3 January 2019 Posted 3 January 2019 I could have sworn this thread was locked? Must be going mad in me old age

Fonte was sold in jan and Vardy put van Dijk for months. I just think the stick puel gets is ridiculous really. Especially when I see so called fans on social media calling him names etc. You can not like a manager due to his style but the abuse he gets like people calling a ‘clown’ a ‘twa*’ and to attack his personality (considering everything he’s had to deal with since his time here and he’s dealt with it so well) is sad to see.
mazarron fox Posted 3 January 2019 Posted 3 January 2019 Have you ever noticed or is it me how many times GP strolls in with his can of paraffin lob it on the embers of the Puel out fire ? hoping it springs to life again. Then he adds ‘ by the way this is no dig at Puel ‘ ? I wonder who exactly is pulling who’s strings and for what purpose. I sure wouldn’t want to be by some of these lot in the trenches ?

Wdywd Posted 3 January 2019 Posted 3 January 2019 Southampton fans trying to blame Puel for their "demise" when he finished 8th and the next two managers took over the car and drove it straight off a cliff is bold

Totally agree on this, the name calling etc is plain wrong and makes me disgusted when I see them to be honest! What does him being french etc have anything to do with his style of football ??♂️ It gave me second thoughts on whether I wanted him to stay or not and I vote stay not just because we are doing well but to also wind up the haters
