My whole point isn't about not improving our squad. I would love tielemans just as a permanent deal or with a loan with an obligation to buy. It's just a loan with no option that I see as pointless as we are just developing another teams player when we have no need to. It'll turn into another Dragovic kind of loan in my opinion.

Just because there is no automatic option to buy doesnt mean we won't but him. He might enjoy it here and might want to stay.. Maybe we were not offering Monaco enough money to have the option to buy? Maybe Monaco think they can secure a bigger offer from us once we see him play and realize how good he is.?

I remember PSG getting in alot of trouble because they secured Mbappe on a loan with an option to buy and FFP rules dictated that the fee to buy him had to be included in their budget for the season he signed on loan.. It could ve we have spent our budget for this season and are wary of being caught up in something similar?

There's alot of variables at play...

Reckon the plan is to sign him on a loan, leave him to rot in the u23s and then snap him up for loose change at the end of the season when he’s devalued.

and lose silva our only adequate back up as part of the deal?

That wouldnt be very smart...

Think it will depend on how well Silva does for them.... If he does really well, they might not want to risk losing their chance of getting him....

It's win/win really.

Silva is a waste of time here so we've offloaded him and hopefully he'll perform well enough to attract bidders in the summer.

We get a look at Tielemans and if he overperforms it can only help our league position.

If he underperforms we send him back anyway.

And if it's somewhere in the middle we can make a decision if to buy without bigger clubs poaching him off us,

I just knew before I decided to look on here people would STILL be moaning. Our midfield is genuinely awful, even if it’s just for 14 games he could really improve us and if he doesn’t? He goes back to Monaco

This doesn't surprise me, I suspect we would need to break our transfer record for him and that's going to be a real dilemma for us.

Well if he likes it here and he's worth it, then I suppose we could and would break it. We definitely put a bid in for 45m for Gylfi Sigurdsson last season, but the player choose Everton.

Tielemans could be even more than that, but if he really smashed it and took us to the next level, Top would get the cheque book out I reckon. At least this way we don't pay for him if he's another high profile flop.
