Or we loan in a young talent, get a look at him and hope he does well and hope we sell him the club. Get rid of all the dross and sign the **** up.

Sell him the Dream

Being battered is a bit unfair to those two. Hamza has proved himself good enough this season and if fit (unlikely I know) then James is good enough for the premier league.

James is done I think. Was never the quickest but looks far too slow now. Shame for the lad but that's how it is.

I think it's wrong to think that if he does well then we will sign him, he will go to a bigger club. If this was an unknown talent we were talking about I'd agree but this is Youri Tielemans we're talking about. The entire world will be watching him and a Barcelona or Man Utd will snap him up in seconds should he play well and he will choose them over us.

But if he plays that well then that might mean we get good results and improve our league finish, especially if he plays well enough to get big clubs like that in for him

Still a benefit to the club if he helps us get 7th/8th

It's sad really but you may well be right, he used to be one of my favourite players always seemed to be able to get a foot to the ball and willing to battle for possession.  I'd love nothing more than to for him to manage to get his career back on track whether here or somewhere else.

ANNOUNCE TIELEMANS

INB4DALOCK etc.

Do you know anything about the loan and any options to buy?

My whole point isn't about not improving our squad. I would love tielemans just as a permanent deal or with a loan with an obligation to buy. It's just a loan with no option that I see as pointless as we are just developing another teams player when we have no need to. It'll turn into another Dragovic kind of loan in my opinion.

Its not pointless.

It is clear that we are not going to play Silva as we don't want to pay Sporting another 5m. The way around that appears to be this deal - we put our player in the shop window without having to fork out 5m and in return we get a player that is highly rated and has a lot of potential. He might have lost his way a bit at Monaco but if he comes here and kicks on we might have a very positive 12 or so games to look forward too (accounting him missing 2 games for bedding in time). This also has the benefit of giving Puel a chance to prove to his bosses and the fans that he is not far off making his system work given the chance to get the right players in.

Tielemans might play really well and end up going to a bigger club for a lot of money (benefit for Monaco) but on the flip side we might see some of the cash for Silva if he performs in Monaco. It will also prove that Puel is on the right track if he can get the right type of players in.

Its not pointless its actually quite a shrewd deal - if it doesn't work at least we don't have to buy and we still might get some suitors for Silva come the summer. Plus it has the added benefit of finally proving if Puel is the right (or wrong) man for the job.

Seems strange without an option. If we had something big to play for this season I could understand it.

If he plays well it inflates his price and opens the door for bigger clubs. If Monaco get relegated they won’t want Silva and that bargaining tool has gone.

He’s also a player unlikely to hit the ground running. He’s struggled with the step up from Belgium to France, so could have more struggles trying to adapt to England. Especially as he’s currently out of form and low on confidence.

That might work in our favour if he shows quality but struggles to get up to speed.

It's a tightrope, you want him to perform well enough to keep him but not too well that it's adios in the summer.

This doesn't surprise me, I suspect we would need to break our transfer record for him and that's going to be a real dilemma for us.

I’ll wait for hamza to play a full season for us before calling him ‘good enough’. Yes he can tackle but his passing is just as limited as the other two.

Disagree with that, I think he's got more about him on the ball than Ndidi and Mendy already. Not scared to look forward either.

Great Sheps. I was really worried about your welfare.  Just hope the Liverpool result does tip you over the edge....
