West Brom hope to re-sign Harvey Barnes from Leicester before transfer deadline

EXCLUSIVE: Barnes impressed on loan in the Championship before making his Premier League debut last week

West Brom have not given up hope that Harvey Barnes will return to the Hawthorns.

The Baggies were poised to go into the market to replace the Leicester City starlet who had just been recalled to the King Power Stadium.

Despite the winger making his full debut at Molineux last week – and scoring for the Foxes' during their 4-3 defeat by Wolves – Claude Puel's post-match inquest has raised the prospect of Barnes being sent out again.

There is the feeling within Leicester's management team that Barnes's step up to the elite may have come too quickly.

As such, they are pondering over whether he will be better served by seeing out the campaign in the Championship.

Puel does have options in wide areas – that was the reason the 21-year-old was allowed out on loan in the first place.

Baggies' boss Darren Moore was keeping back any cash that had been earmarked for a permanent replacement for Barnes.

But with Bakary Sako making a surprise move to Crystal Palace , Moore will have to get an early shout from the east Midlands club this week.

Barnes made a big impression at the Hawthorns during the first half of the campaign.

The England Under-21 international scored nine goals in 25 outings for the Baggies.

Unless we are planning on bringing someone in this would be utterly bizzare. Can't rely on just Gray Albrighton and Ghezzal.

We need better than those three anyway, Barnes starts every game for the rest of the season for me.

We will look like absolute twats if this is true. Is this possibly an attempt to further undermine Puel? The red tops love a good sacking. Some journo mischief making as far as I'm concerned.
