Valiant effort.

Good test match in the end all things considered.

Loving 9 fielders around the bat those last few overs :D

Showed the benefit of having a fully fit pace attack plus an in-form spinner. With Anderson out and Ali all over the place, we were in effect two bowlers down in the First Test.

In this one we looked threatening throughout.

So we appear to be retaining Denly on the strength of one admittedly stunning moment of fielding yesterday, as it can't be because of his batting or bowling. As for Roy?

Think the selectors should have been bolder. We may have fought our way back into the series, but the Aussies only need one more victory and on the strength of this current squad I reckon they'll get it.

I'm hoping Buttler and Bairstow can kick on a little after this test as they both, particularly the latter, looked better. Otherwise we seem to be heavily reliant on a knock like Burns at Edgbaston or Stokes yesterday.

I've seen some talk of switching Denly and Roy, but it doesn't seem like that would make a difference as both of them are usually batting within the first few overs anyway.

I think it would be worth going with Denly opening, even if he gets to his usual 20 and gets out. Better than we have been doing so far. Difficult with Roy, I think you've probably got to give him a fair go which means more than 2 tests.

Difficult to bring anyone in when no-one has played any red ball cricket for ages until yesterday (where all potential replacements got out cheaply from what I could see) Need to have some sort of Lions matches or something going on alongside a test series so at least players can be brought in if on form.

Can't really believe we are still persisting with these batsmen who simply aren't up to the job.

Hopefully we'll at least see an alteration in the batting order.

He's bowled 39 overs with an econ of 3.2.

But why switch to doing that? I want him to succeed as much as the next bloke, but how does that look to the selectors?

That's pretty tragic go watch, someone should be bringing him out rather than watching him go through that.

We’ve gotta find a way to get the best out of Jason Roy. I think he’s massively talented but clearly struggling as a test opener.

I don’t know what the solution is but we need to mix up the order for the next test I think.

It's the right call. I can't think of any other sport where it would have even been up for debate.

****ing amazed he came back on.

Cricket ball to the skull a lot worse than some of the knocks that end a rugby player's game.

Halfpenny took a Fijian shoulder to the dish and missed months.

He's done it with Worcs before, both before and during his time in the England side

would be gutted if i was going to headingley and he wasn’t playing. he better be back for OT, only reason i’m going is to spend all day booing the cu nt.

You’ve still got Warner and Bancroft to have a go at.

If Smith was playing this test they’d just bowl short at him to try and knock him over again. Bonus for us gives us a much better chance.

yeah but seen as them two only seem capable of spending 15 minutes each in the middle that isn’t gonna last all day is it!
