Pretty sad though when we're relying on a 20 year old debutante to save our ass

Have those that said we just need to make 400+ watched us bat in test cricket in the past 4 years?

Yes, against India lol

I think expecting 400+ is getting way ahead of ourselves.

Roy...

Bit bemused by all this as well.

Unless Root or Stokes go big we aren't getting 400 against this Australian attack.

As for Roy, ridiculous. What is he doing opening after the first two matches?

David Warner jumping about in the slips like an excited teenager who's about to chuck his muck.

Knob end

This is really winding me up. Root might as well open since with Roy in the side that’s what he’s doing . Openers are there to take the shine off and get the bowlers working hard so what’s the point of picking Roy in anything other than 20/20 or 50 over cricket since he has a mindset to try to flay  the cover off every ball he receives and is out inside the first 4 overs of the innings

In all fairness, every major pundit predicted this before the series. They all said ball would beat bat and games would be fairly low scoring.

In isolation, you can be upset at your openers but theirs are doing exactly the same. It's not like Warner is a terrible batsmen, he's failed in all but one innings so far.

Well, we bowled they missed all day.

They bowl,WE Nick off....Early everytime!!

Roy ,Root.  Minds are scrambled....!!!   They havent learnt, soft hands...Fishing ,leave, leave, and leave again!! First 3 batsmen should wait, for the ball!!

In fact there are so many things wrong technically ..its become boring!!

It's the shot selection. We have four days of the test left and you couldn't ask for better batting conditions today. There's no need to play a shot like that. Just play the straighter balls and leave the rest at this stage.

over the whole series yeah, but things like today deserve fu cking loads of criticism. joe root on his home ground, won the toss, archer made that decision look superb, amazing conditions to bat all day and have a nice time, gets zero. woeful.

This is painful, Denly played and missed at five balls then in one over lol

Its good bowling to be fair, no freebies and always threatening the edge. Then when you get a wide one like Roy got you feel you after go for it, especially when you've got no patience.

Root is just out of form, and you seem to nick good balls when you're in that form. Another day he misses it then goes on to get a hundred. He is a good player but shouldn't be facing the new ball after 2 overs every time. Even the best players struggle in England.

We need to find someone in county cricket to open who can just bat time. It doesn't matter if he doesn't score huge runs, or whether he has an average of 40 plus. They just need to be able to defend and leave. Azad?

Have to give Cummins his dues there, he was moving it miles.

He is, so the response from Burns is then to try and pull his short ball for six.

It's pathetic.

Its a Good point,so now we must need to see 2 Maybe 3 of our earlier batsman, must be getting 30- 40+..Before We even Dream of 50-100+!!

I do believe however, that Aussie bowlers for years, often Play discipline line and length  20 from 24 balls. No gimme's!! Long Periode bowled, where none or

only 1-2 boundaries are scored.

Not only yesterday,but over years,even Anderson,Broad will offer up easy Scoring opportunities,over 2-3 overs,often 1-2 an over.

And again Burns ,soft dismisal!!!     Ffs. 20-3,  we should of had that yesterday..!!
