Mark_w Posted 17 June 2020 Posted 17 June 2020 F*** goal line tech, it's not football anymore etc. God it's nice to have it back.
Mehrez Posted 17 June 2020 Posted 17 June 2020 Someone had to unplug the goal line technology system as they didn’t have enough plugs for the god awful crowd noise system

That's goalline tech which is separate to VAR. The goal line tech clearly has not worked though. So surely VAR should get involved in it.

Detroit Blues Posted 17 June 2020 Posted 17 June 2020 Just a question of precedent - Has a goal ever been retroactively awarded (like at half-time)?

But when the ball finally goes behind the line, half of it is also in line with the post. I'm just theorising, a possible flaw. Edited 17 June 2020 by wardyfox86
Guest Electric Yetis Posted 17 June 2020 Posted 17 June 2020 Villa to let the Sheff Utd 'Keeper walk it in from the restart? 😂
Popular Post moore_94 Posted 17 June 2020 Popular Post Posted 17 June 2020 Didn't even show the hawkeye view as to why it wasn't over the line 5
Corky Posted 17 June 2020 Posted 17 June 2020 Incredible, first game back and we're already having issues with technology. 2

Nod.E Posted 17 June 2020 Posted 17 June 2020 I'm sorry but the first thing they're talking about is a gesture. That's not right.

TheUltimateWinner Posted 17 June 2020 Posted 17 June 2020 Surely someone should be in the refs ear to test the technology at halftime? That’s nuts
Collymore Posted 17 June 2020 Posted 17 June 2020 (edited) as long as he's applying pressure to the ball against the post then maybe it's not fully behind the line, if the line is the same thickens as the post. We're talking millimetres but actually might be the right decision. Edited 17 June 2020 by Collymore

TheUltimateWinner Posted 17 June 2020 Posted 17 June 2020 No comment from Hawkeye VAR could’ve overruled. Amazing. The premier league is back! 1
sheffield_fox Posted 17 June 2020 Posted 17 June 2020 So the 3 VAR refs are happy to just watch that obvious goal not be given and we've got people here saying that is fine? What are they there for if not to prevent clear and obvious errors? People were posting that image on this forum while the referee was still pissing around with his watch.

Unabomber Posted 17 June 2020 Posted 17 June 2020 (edited) So VAR could’ve overruled it! Also no one seems to have mentioned the goalkeeping so bad. Edited 17 June 2020 by Unabomber
