His foot gets stepped on but then he literally jumps onto the floor.

Ah ok so because he overreacts it undoes the foul.  Makes sense.

Fair enough on that one lol.

He does overreact. Still doesn't change the fact his foot got stepped on.

Stan with respect a foot getting stepped on does not mean a penalty.

Likewise for the last point?!

I wouldn't say 'square on the shin pad' though. It was a light touch lol.

Anyway, I don't want to keep repeating myself right now so will agree to disagree! I think there's always going to be discussion long in to the night about this one though regardless...

Absolutely, I ain’t the one saying if it was Vardy it’d be a different story, appreciate it wasn’t personally directed at me.

All opinions ain’t it.

Nice to see VAR has ended controversy in football.

Wow I had somehow forgotten about that one, good point. Scary levels of inconsistency. Mahrez should’ve been booked if that is the benchmark.

I sound petty, but it's a benchmark I come back to. The official and VAR gave a dive, and then award penalties for significantly less contact. Our league jas piss poor consistency on fouls

I'm with Stan on this after seeing the replays but I think we've proved that the error was far from clear and obvious so they probably should have stuck with the on-field call.

For me, seeing the replay, it was enough of a foul.

On first viewing, I thought dive to be fair with how he reacts. But seeing the replays, he steps on his foot and impedes him.

I missed it.  Did he go down and clutch his other foot as well?

If not, there's some improvement clearly needed in his technique as Mane is a master at it.  lol

With Vardy getting the golden boot wrapped up, Mahrez & Mane are going hammer and tongs for the tony the tiger award

Agreed. If it had been given in the first place it stands. I doubt we'd have had it overturned though (I am a bit (PARANOID!!)

Have you ever had your foot trodden on whilst you are running? It tends to make you fall over.

'Fall over' and elaborately throwing yourself to the floor are very different though.

And therein lies the problem.  Clear and obvious.  The interpretation of this isn't clear cut.  Until it is, there will be no consistency.

Yes numerous times, it makes you fall over immediately not when you’ve had time to review the situation and what the best cause of action is.

We'd have been given a yellow by VAR.  Only 3 teams get that call (the Manchesters & Liverpool).

Again it raises the question of why doesn't the referee go take another look on the monitor. I think if he does he sticks with his original decision. This clear and obvious nonsense is the problem. All of the people officiating the VAR won't have the same opinion so its again too subjective. There's no way that penalty call hit the threshold but Tielemans foul against Bournemouth didn't hit the threshold for a red card

Just taken another look at the replays and Mahrez goes down without taking any more steps.  He drops dramatically but there's no merit to the arguments that he took a few steps and decided he lost the ball.

If Mahrez had stayed on his feet but hobbled off, or just stopped his attempt to get the ball, do you still think a penalty would have been given?

I think with VAR, maybe so. But until we see something like that happen, players will always try to make it as clear as possible that they have been fouled.

Replay just showed Coady who cleared it was still on the line when it was taken.

Bent *****.

Head is clearly over the line, you can play the ball with your head last I checked.

I do not understand why Wolves are having a go at Man City, Do they not realise that chasing the ball, passing it around at pace and getting stuck in will get them nowhere. Wolves must change it it early in the 2nd half and allow Man City to have complete control or they will be at serious risk of winning the game.

To be fair to The Bear I'd be a bit miffed it it was us - but rules are rules. And they are still losing to 10 men. Which is where the focus should be.
