TheStig Posted 1 October 2019 Posted 1 October 2019 I live in Denmark - son of a Wigston born father. I´ve followed and supported City since the mid sixties. Ive been to both Filbert Street and the King Power several times and must admit - I have never seen City win. The latest was the 15/16 2-2 against West Ham. I saw City at Copenhagen in the Champs League but lo and behold - a draw......... - so maybe I should just stay away at least for this season.

Got held in at Nottingham station because there was doubts whether the game would go ahead, Massive police presence as we were escorted to Meadow Lane, but it felt great to be there in such numbers. Also losing away at Peterborough, dreadful game, not sure when but the City fans had a nice fire going on the terrace 🔥 Attending games now is so far different now, it’s unrecognisable from the 80s and 90s where danger seemed to lurk everywhere. Recall the fire in the away end well, ticker tape(sporting blue) was added at regular intervals.. We had fans everywhere including up the floodlights. Two streakers also amongst the 8k .. Lost possibly 2/3 - nil early 90s Brian little play off years ..possibly 1993 Away games as teenagers, great days.
mazarron fox Posted 1 October 2019 Posted 1 October 2019 Remember tranmere away more than once on the way to the ground my mate decided to shortcut over a fence it had anti climb paint on it all match he was minging 😀
mazarron fox Posted 1 October 2019 Posted 1 October 2019 We had some epic away ends but that Notts county in the zenith data in the rain was up there
ARM1968 Posted 1 October 2019 Posted 1 October 2019 Where was I? Basically dragging my sorry backside around the country watching out sad shower of shite in any run down heap they played at. More downs than ups, but the recent ups make up for it.
Foxhateram Posted 1 October 2019 Posted 1 October 2019 Being bullied at Devon schools for not glory supporting the top 4. The glory supporter card always came back with "No! Me dad's alwaaays supported them!" My response of well your dad was born in Exeter so he's a glory supporter too would normally lead to me getting a whack in the face haha. Never stopped me beating them at lunchtimes though while being Ian Walker or Tim Flowers in goal and then scoring goals as Paul Dickov, Marcus Bent (didn't help matters at the time) or Muzzy Izzett. Loved shouting the line "Izzet it a goal? Yes it is! Muzzy Izzett does it again!"

SheppyFox Posted 1 October 2019 Posted 1 October 2019 I remember getting excited when we signed some bald striker on loan from a premier league team.

PAULCFC Posted 1 October 2019 Posted 1 October 2019 Stuart Pearce being sent off for a "tackle" on Paul Reid i think it was.Must have been mid eighties in a cup at night. Then Wright's first goal for Arsenal in another cup, walshy scored in added time, and it carried on after that! And the Sheff utd game when they got promoted, they played in a luminous yellow, which the stewards had as well,so was very interesting.Of course the Chelsea match on the same day as Hillsbourgh,i think they needed to get a win to be promoted,to be honest i can't remember the score, but you didn't want to be in the Double Decker that day!
jonthefox Posted 1 October 2019 Author Posted 1 October 2019 Who's old enough to remember Harlow town?.
CyprusFox Posted 1 October 2019 Posted 1 October 2019 One great memory was an epic FA cup tie v Arshole. Think it would have been 1974 or 75. Started at Highbury With a 0-0 draw. I remember we were attacked from both sides by the arsehole fans halfway through the first half in an organised onslaught causing us to disperse all over the ground. Replay was at a heaving Filbo, I'm sure there was well over 30000. We drew again 1-1. and I'm sure Birch got an equaliser that night. So to another replay at Filbert St again, think they tossed a coin for it. Another massive crowd but we lost 0-1. God knows how many hours the whole tie took to complete. Many good memories under Jimmy Bloomfield and many characters.

What about Leatherhead and the Kelly shuffle. 2-0 down and eventually beat them 3-2. Everybody in the kop were chanting "Leatherhead " at the end. Doubt we would've if we'd lost.
Remember Kember Posted 1 October 2019 Posted 1 October 2019 Yes I'm old enough to have been at Harlow in 1980!! Also remember losing 5-0 on successive Saturday's in 1980 at man United and forest. Attended both. 10-0 in one week!
mod hero Posted 1 October 2019 Posted 1 October 2019 In the carling stand when Steve Agnew whacked that Millwall Player

Quite the reversal of fortunes considering we have just posted 9-0 for in the space of 5 days.
HybridFox Posted 1 October 2019 Posted 1 October 2019 When you look at the Championship now and particular ex Premier League grounds like Stoke where it's half empty, we did bloody well attendance wise tbf. Still averaged over 23k and the atmosphere was arguably better than it is now.

old koppite Posted 1 October 2019 Posted 1 October 2019 I have a lot of memories of us being shit. 1 that comes to mind is a mid week league game away at Norwich. Holloway was in charge, and he’d persuaded Barry Hayles to join us, so I went to the game in anticipation that we’d turn things around. I was cruelly disappointed. As I remember, Baz came on as sub second half, had a chance one on one, fluffed it without getting any power and it rolled softly to their keeper. Ah, happy days!
