HybridFox Posted 17 December 2019 Posted 17 December 2019 This game shouldn't have been given airtime
urban fox Posted 17 December 2019 Posted 17 December 2019 Too much to ask that the Manc clubs do something similar tomorrow and get dumped out. If we get past everton no chance we will get Villa in the semis. Just waiting for the cries of fix when they avoid each other in the semis so that the TV can get the final that they want. You just know its going to happen. That said, i think we would do Utd over two legs so Sky will still be able to bill the final as 2nd vs 3rd placed PL teams.
UniFox21 Posted 17 December 2019 Posted 17 December 2019 Minute they knew this would be Liverpool u23s why didn't they shift things to let Colchester have a televised game rather than Liverpool u23s vs Villa?

Yeah good point. the extra revenue would make a huge difference to them. Plus we could have all had a good laugh if they pulled off a miracle.

urban fox Posted 17 December 2019 Posted 17 December 2019 what are the odds that, if we got to the final beating man city over two legs in the semi, and were playing Man utd Sky would still be treating us as upstart outsiders or underdogs even though we are currently streets ahead of Utd in every way.

UniFox21 Posted 17 December 2019 Posted 17 December 2019 Feel they're getting slightly ahead of themselves on praising the liverpool players, no doubt they have brilliant talent, but talent alone doesn't get you to be a premier league footballer. Elliot had brilliant moments but whats to stop him being like huge numbers of players who peak at an early age and then plateau or get worse with age.
Nalis Posted 18 December 2019 Posted 18 December 2019 I know this is effectively Liverpool U21s but the media seem to be forgetting this was a reserve Aston Villa team too, wasnt like Grealish and McGinn were playing and being flat track bullies with no mercy.

It was an experienced team with bags of playing time at premier league and championship level. There's no way it should have even been close.

And that’s against league one and two sides.

On a side note it makes our u23s getting past the first knockout rounds an even better achievement.
StanSP Posted 18 December 2019 Posted 18 December 2019 Cancelo scores for Man City. Fluky as it took a deflection.

urban fox Posted 7 January 2020 Posted 7 January 2020 one reservation though. If we ended up with Man Utd in the final we dare not lose it cos the meltdown would be horrendous with the media using it to point out to all our players how much better off they would be at OT
SouthStandUpperTier Posted 7 January 2020 Posted 7 January 2020 Boring 'ell. Is this game gonna get going soon?
