I’m sometimes amazed we sing anything at all given the criticism of virtually every song on this forum.

Ah well, I guess the positive is that nothing can get in the way of booing substitutes and at half time.

wys was awesome in the late 70s early 80s when done properly by the spion kop. It was Leicester's chant, bring it back and do it right.

That's not how I remember it. I've always felt it was a slightly awkward song for the terraces. Rhythmically, it's pretty much all over the place - for that reason alone it's not suited to a mass choir. The tempo inevitably speeds up until you're left with a messy self-conscious conclusion.

If it was any good, it would just be used and discussions like this wouldn't happen.

As others have pointed out, the only reason we persist with it is out of a desire to have our 'own' song.

Always feel this one tries too hard, and never feels organic.

The main problem with it is it has to be started by one person and takes about 3 lines to get people joining in. It worked in the Filbo kop because of how compact the singer's were. It's part of our history,  but I doubt it will ever be sung well regularly again.

‘Do it properly’ ‘do it right’, show people then.

Do it at the slow speed, do it with the jazz hands.

Older guys going on about how it’s no good now, well really your generation let it slip and it lost its way. Want it done properly well show folk in the stands that way.

You lot just sit in the stands nowdays with your happy clappers.

Most of you are just glory hunters.

You need mass agreement as to the tempo it should be sung at before submitting any petition....

There wasnt a mass agreement at Cardiff. It sounded ****ing brilliant.

Probably is as a fanbase weve gone shit, weve got people on here who are straight to criticize any recommendations how we can improve things or who are quickly to criticize our support at a certain game but them, themselves arent willing to do anything yet point fingers.

I just saw this and I think this can be something we make amazing, before kick off at the end of a good win throughout an away day.

I for one grew up with it and bloody love it!

When you’re smiling!

....any song when sung in unison on a grand scale has the power lift an occasion!!!

Just to add to this conversation, how about the Kaiser Chiefs "I predict a Riot" . It has all that is required to an anthem as the tempo is right there at the start, slightly repetitive, it goes up and down in waves and immediately takes you into game mode. I know the Chiefs are a Leeds band and so not linked to Leicester but it is for me a much better option than WYS or Kasabian LSF.

Another Chiefs song "Every day I love you Less and Less" has the tempo from the start and gets you up off your feet as well. I know the words may not be relevant but some wag could do a rewrite of the lyrics to fit the occasion......!!!!!

I will sing whatever the club play before kick off. To not sing, or to question the choice of song is a gross show of disloyalty. The owners won the league for us (no one else, not even Mahrez) and the choices the club therefore make should never be queried.

Like it and lump it.

You think the owners personally pick our pre-match playlist? And you actually *sing along* to it before every game because you think it's disloyal not to? lol

Absolutely. The owners won the league for us. We were nothing before they came along. We barely had any history, basically a non-league club. The owners obviously make every single decision at the club, like those booking fees. As such we should back every single decision to the hilt, no matter how underhand, strange or frustrating it may seem.

I sing along because I'm loyal, a hugely loyal fan. The fact you're questioning my loyalty means you should hand back your season ticket immediately. Do you even care about the club?

Haha, fair play. You had me then. :appl:

Never really got it myself.  We really need something snappy and uplifting. Someone earlier mentioned "livin' on a prayer" and I get that. everyone knows the chorus (we all sing along and get a lift when it comes on the radio/jukebox etc) even if we knock it.  Similar would be "the boys are back in town". Solid tune, known chorus and just made to be belted out at full voice.  Whatever, it has to be upbeat, made to be sung at full volume and something that will span the generations. No current "pop" song will ever do that as I does not have the pedigree or appeal top the "more mature" amongst us but if it has a catchy tune, decent lyrics and sounds good when sung by thousands of voices then that's what we want. Good luck finding it!!  These things tend to evolve, and as in the case of YNWA and Gerry and the pacemakers, it helps if there is some local affiliation that people can identify with. (no fan of Kasabian myself but I can see where that may come into it as they are massive city fans themselves)

Now I'm not normally one to go down the football snob route of calling things or people "tinpot", but I physically cringed reading that people are unironically suggesting using "I Predict A Riot" or "Living On A Prayer" before kick-off.

At the very least, use "Keep The Faith" if you're going to subject us to Bon Jovi.
