Seen that .

Didn’t he have a few injuries with you ?

Fit right in then !

If you like players with no discernable skills who aren't particularly good at anything then boy oh boy are you in for treat!

Seemed quite likeable but I think that was mainly because he was 4ft5 but good grief did he get an easy-ish ride from our fans, absolute shite.

Watford have completed the signing of Senegal international midfielder Nampalys Mendy, who has signed a one-year deal with the option of a further year.

The 33-year-old FA Cup winner arrives after his departure from French side RC Lens and becomes the Hornets’ 11th signing of the summer.

“Mendy perfectly fits the profile of an experienced midfielder with leadership qualities we have been looking for,” said Sporting Director Gian Luca Nani.

“We are delighted to have signed him. He has experience of English football with Leicester and he was the player they signed to replace [N'Golo] Kanté.

“Mendy recovers the ball well, he has very good in-game intelligence, is aggressive without the ball and is a leader in the way he plays as players follow him.”

Mendy will wear the number 23 shirt at Vicarage Road.

Ndidi – out in the Conference League qualifiers with Besiktas against lowly Lausanne-Sport.

Wilfred played in both the away and the home match, both over 90 minutes.

Besiktas fans are saying Ndidi played well despite the loss.

I was just reading that.

Basically ran the midfield on his own by the sound of it.

@Super_horns we feel for you. Watch him turn into some beast lol

Hopefully he won't play too much but our fans feel the same.

33 and hardly had a pre season so won't be fit.

We''ve been here before with this sort of free transfer signing.

He's honestly not as bad as is being made out. He wasnt great in the context of us being a Premier League side looking to play in European competition but even then he had a run for us in Christmas 20/21 where he was playing at the standard of a top 6 level midfielder and even had a man of the match performance when we beat Man City 5-2. He also was a starter for Senegal when they won AFCON.

For the championship he will be good enough, he's a good recycler of the ball and can put in a good tackle if he gets close enough (his main issue is that he gets bypassed quite easily in midfield).

Back then it wasnt good enough but at Championship level midfielders get lauded for doing less than Mendy does.

He also quite comfortably outplayed our current midfield last pre season in the game against Lens which showed how far we had fallen as a club. Even Mendy looked surprised with how awful we had become in such a short space of time.

'He's shown' - Leicester City transfer swoop hailed by Preston North End manager
By George Hodgson
Published 29th Aug 2025, 06:00 BST

The goalkeeper rejoined Preston North End this summer
Preston North End goalkeeper Daniel Iversen has so far justified the hype to manager Paul Heckingbottom.

The Danish shot-stopper is a fan favourite at Deepdale, having had two previous loan spells with the club. Iversen won Player of the Year for the 2021/22 campaign and made several memorable saves.

He spent the three years after with Leicester City but struggled for game time in a Foxes shirt. Iversen only managed to get out on loan once - for the second half of the 2023/24 season with Stoke City.

This summer, he made clear that he wanted to get out on loan more often. As for Heckingbottom, he was aware of Iversen’s popularity with the PNE faithful and therefore excited to start working with him for the first time.

“Yes, I think most people here, obviously fans, you guys, everyone knows him and knew what to expect,” said Heckingbottom. “I think it was new for Dan working with me and me working with Dan. But yes, I think his personality shines so much as a goalkeeper. His personality around the place is great as well.

“But I certainly think he's really comfortable. He knows the place, he knows the people. He was really, really excited to come back and champing at the bit. From day one, he's shown what he's all about.

“Back to the recruitment, really pleased with some of the work we've done. I feel like we've got the best free transfer out there. We've done really well to get him. He’s certainly comfortable, likes it here and hopefully that brings the best out of him.”

On the opening day at Queens Park Rangers, Iversen made a fine start to the campaign. He provided the assist for Milutin Osmajic and after PNE’s equaliser, produced a remarkable save to keep out Karamoko Dembele. The following league game, Iversen somehow denied Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu from point blank range.

“Yes, big saves,” said Heckingbottom. “It is important. Listen, we're always working on things. We just had a meeting there and Dan gets his role within the XI without the ball but particularly, with the ball as well when we do have the ball.

“But ultimately, for me, the saves. It's like goal scorers. If you're taking a chance and you're clinical at one end, you can win your team points. If you're the goalkeeper at the other end and you're making big saves at big moments, then it's absolutely critical.”
