NewquayFox Posted 11 August 2019 Posted 11 August 2019 Probably his worst game in a City shirt today, wasteful and out of position when needed, hope it’s just a blip...
STUHILL Posted 11 August 2019 Posted 11 August 2019 Had a poor game today and I don't personally see a £70m player but Maguire wasn't an £80m player either! He's still a very talented LB though but just inconsistent, similar to Maddison, Barnes and Tielemans. These types of players will get better and better with time. Just got to stick with them and allow them an off day now and again, because the long-term rewards could be well worth it.
moore_94 Posted 11 August 2019 Posted 11 August 2019 I do agree that Chilwell had a poor game, but I don't think it helped that he had pretty much no cover on the wing in front of him, Maddison would always disappear into the middle, where as usually he would have had help from Albrighton who would cover for him if he went forward A lot harder for him when he has to decide whether to focus purely on attacking or defending, if he just attacks, we get what happens today where he gets caught out a lot, if he just defends then we would basically lose all impact down that left wing Whoever plays out wide with him needs to contribute to the defending as well, not just attacking
les-tah Posted 11 August 2019 Posted 11 August 2019 Madders got his boys back. These lot do look through comments!

Seriously thinking about taking a vacation over to Gen Chat on here for the foreseeable as well because I don’t think I can take another season of all this rubbish.
cal21212121 Posted 11 August 2019 Posted 11 August 2019 He might have been better had he had someone in front of him to pass to at some point in the game.
Bayfox Posted 11 August 2019 Posted 11 August 2019 What ever our opinions, the players don't read social media etc argument falls down based on this evidence.
sdb Posted 11 August 2019 Posted 11 August 2019 Our full backs do so, so much work for the team. If Riccy P wasnt borderline world class then Chilly would be fine. Not at his best today but he does seem to pretty much work the left flank alone most weeks. That said, I do wish he had a bit more about him in the final third.
lee7 Posted 11 August 2019 Posted 11 August 2019 I can't comment on today's game as I'm yet to see it but based on his past performances I just wish he'd have more confidence when going forwards. He's fully capable of dribbling past an opponent but more often than not he'll turn back with the ball for a simple pass and it frustrates the life out of me!
Ric Flair Posted 11 August 2019 Posted 11 August 2019 Defensively is very good these days, really improved in that regard. Going forward he is needs to I.prove quite significantly. If we are going to persist without any other width to help on the left then we are in for a frustrating time.

Arkie Bennett Posted 11 August 2019 Posted 11 August 2019 He was pretty much isolated on the left with no-one to overlap or pass to until Barnes came on.

TrentFox Posted 11 August 2019 Posted 11 August 2019 The wonderful thing about having all these young, talented players is that they are going to grow into something special. We as fans just need to accept that they haven’t done that growing yet and will be inconsistent.
lcfc sheff Posted 11 August 2019 Posted 11 August 2019 Without end product he’s not worth that kind of money... but age + nationality add a few £s on the potential fee. If Justin ends up playing well when he gets the chance I wouldn’t be too disheartened to see him go - bit like Maguire going.
HybridFox Posted 11 August 2019 Posted 11 August 2019 Still England's first choice left back Let's get behind our lad
TMELcfc Posted 11 August 2019 Posted 11 August 2019 Had a feeling these sort of threads would pop up after one game (maybe two after Chelsea away). Too many of you have probably gone round telling everyone we are finishing top 6 and now are making a tit of yourselves. On chilwell he will have bad games, he’s in his early twenties! In fact we have one of the youngest squads. Not only Chilwell but we are bashing Maddison again... get a grip

iancognito Posted 12 August 2019 Posted 12 August 2019 Wolves took him apart at Molineux last season too. They must see him drifting out of position and work on it. He was sluggish in pre-season, which is okay, that's what it's there for, but he needs to look at Ricardo and how he's improved in the last 12 months and carry on working at his game. Playing for England doesn't mean you're a great player. just ask Carlton Palmer or Steve Hodge.
Deeg67 Posted 12 August 2019 Posted 12 August 2019 I didn’t think Chilwell was great yesterday, but some of the hyperbole is ridiculous - he wasn’t our worst performer by any means. It was a generally uninspired team performance and he was part of it. And yes, having no winger in front of him didn’t help.

Always liked a slight sag myself. Especially the underboob. Unless your talking droop. Then I totally get where your coming from.
adejo92 Posted 12 August 2019 Posted 12 August 2019 That comment on Social Media was very daft. I certainly didn't see a lack of effort from Chilwell, just a very bad game - something every player has from time to time. Sure he'll bounce back next week.
Bert Posted 12 August 2019 Posted 12 August 2019 Can never fault Chilwell for lack of effort. What annoys me most about him is that he never really seems to bank in beating a man in the final third. Always seems to turn back. Frustrating because he can do it.
