International Call-Ups For 13 Foxes
INTERNATIONALS
Published 1 hr 15 mins ago

Leicester City’s stars are set for another busy international break after 13 players from various levels were selected by their nations.
- Several of Leicester City’s first team players will contest UEFA 2020 European Championship qualifying fixtures in September
- Ben Chilwell and James Maddison have both been named in the England squad
- Belgium’s Dennis Praet and Youri Tielemans are also set for further international caps
- Updates on the Club’s international stars can be found on LCFC.com

Following Saturday’s clash with AFC Bournemouth, the Foxes have reported for international duty, with five players set for action on Thursday.

Kasper Schmeichel, who has 47 international caps to his name, could potentially play on 5 September, when Denmark face Gibraltar in Group D of the UEFA 2020 European Championship qualifiers.

Three days later, meanwhile, the Danes head to Georgia for a second qualifier, as they attempt to add to the five points they have collected from three outings to date.

Defender Jonny Evans may also feature on Thursday, as Northern Ireland aim to continue their 100 per cent start in Group C.

Michael O’Neill’s men first host Luxembourg at Windsor Park in Belfast, before facing Germany on the same soil the following Monday.

The centre-back has been capped 80 times for his country.

Evans’ defensive partner at City, the impressive Çağlar Söyüncü, has also earned an international call for Turkey, who he has already been capped 24 times for at the age of just 23.

Şenol Güneş’ side face Andorra at the Vodafone Arena in Istanbul on Saturday 7 September, before a fixture against Moldova in Chișinău three days later.

Midfielders Dennis Praet and Youri Tielemans have been named in the Belgium squad for their Euro qualifying fixtures against San Marino and Scotland.

Their opening match takes place at San Marino’s national team stadium, Olimpico di Serravalle, on Friday 6 September, while they then head to Hampden Park for a clash with Scotland having won all four of their first games in Group I.

Wembley Stadium will be the venue for England’s encounter with Bulgaria on Saturday 7 September, as James Maddison targets a senior debut for the Three Lions.

Accompanied by Academy graduate Ben Chilwell in Gareth Southgate’s 25-man squad, England will then take on Kosovo at Southampton’s St. Mary’s Stadium on Tuesday 10 September. England currently sit top of Group D with two wins from two games.

City shot-stopper Danny Ward will hope to add to his six caps for Wales during the international break, with two home fixtures next up for Ryan Giggs’ men.

On Friday, they will entertain Azerbaijan in Group E at Cardiff City Stadium, where three days later they welcome Belarus, having won two of their first three games.

Striker Kelechi Iheanacho has been selected by Nigeria, who finished third in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations this summer.

Iheanacho’s side head to the Dnipro Arena for an international friendly encounter with Ukraine on Tuesday 10 September.

James Justin, who joined the Club in the summer from Luton Town, has been awarded his first call-up for England’s Under-21s, who will play twice in September.

The young Lions head to Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Stadium for a clash with Turkey on Friday 6 September, before a home fixture against Kosovo at Hull City’s KCOM Stadium.

Development Squad youngsters Vontae Daley-Campbell, Khanya Leshabela and Admiral Muskwe may all notch up further appearances at senior and youth level on Thursday.

Muskwe’s selection for the Zimbabwe senior team could see him play against Somalia in a World Cup qualifier, while Daley-Campbell’s England Under-19s first face Greece and Leshabela’s South Africa Under-23s take on Zimbabwe Under-23s on the same day.

Then, Muskwe’s nation take on Somalia for a second time in four days, Leshabela’s South Africa face another encounter with Zimbabwe’s youth outfit and Daley-Campbell will hope to line-up against Germany.

Finally, Shane Flynn, a member of the Club's Under-18s side, is set to travel to Dublin to link up with the Republic of Ireland's Under-19s on a two-day training camp over Monday and Tuesday.

To see how the Foxes fare, be sure to stay tuned to LCFC.com and the Club’s social media channels throughout the first international break of 2019/20.

As we look for an advantage over our top 6 rivals, not only do we have no European football, but only 7 first team regulars being involved in the international week had to be the lowest of all the top sides in the PL.

Of the X1 likely to start against Man Utd, Riccardo, Barnes, Ndidi, Choudhury and Vardy all get a couple of weeks off.

A small advantage could come our way.

Very impressive. Any tweets yet from Chris Sutton MBE boasting all the Celtic Reserves call ups?

Great for Justin.

Interesting to note Praet's call up - from what I can tell online he has won 3 caps since 2014 and his most recent appearance in March was as a sub for one minute.

Weird too how Hamza and Barnes aren't in the U21s too - they're both still 21 and fully fit. Hamza isn't still suspended is he?

Hamza and Barnes were both born before 1st January 1998. They're not eligible to play.

Why isn't Ndidi with Nigeria?

That is a weird one, there was an article a couple of weeks back from the national coach saying he wouldnt be called as he was injured. However he did play for us the following week... so ... like i said its a weird one.

Are they unable to change there mind?

I’d rather he got a rest (sorry Wilf)

I suspect that it’s been agreed to allow him to have a rest and for his hamstring to heal  - Nigeria’s fixtures are friendlies
