What do you think of David Martindale at Livingston (considering his criminal past)?

Personally think he's earnt the right to change himself for the better, ie. studying whilst in prison, and glad that he's doing well for himself now.

Most people deserve a second chance in life.

Glad he's doing well as well, really turned them round.

Another win for Rangers last night, they're on a ridiculous run.

Obviously, former participation in organised crime might leave him open to adverse approaches from the wrong sort of people if he is involved in transfer fees, etc.

There is a lot of organised crime in these parts.  (Look up a publication called The Digger if you don't believe me).  He must know some pretty rotten people.

However, Martindale has come out and said all the right stuff.

He hasn't tried to excuse or whitewash what he did.

As he has served his debt to society and he is rehabilitated and at very low risk of reoffending, it is right that he should be given the chance.

Good luck to him, he has had a meteoric rise.

Agree. What you have to remember here is that these folk get off to the worst possible start in life, what with being force fed deep fried mars bars, Irn bru & blended whisky.

Can't be easy.

Having been fined heavily once should they be fined points for their second blantant breach of the law?

3 points per attendee would really put the cat amongst the pigeons...

Many a "slip" between cup and lip....

There's already a Scottish Football thread...

Possibly somebody with Celtic loyalties starting the thread too?

I see that Bassey was one of the Rangers players who broke the lockdown regulations. Silly little boy. Will be lucky if he plays for them again.

Most of us are familiar with how Milton Keynes have, in effect, "franchised" themselves a football league team from Wimbledon.

Most football fans regard this as an absolute no-no.   If you want a league team, then you get a non-league team promoted through all the lower non-league tiers.  This is not perfect, as clubs like Salford City just splash the cash and pile through the divisions.   But at least the principle of non-franchising is adhered to.

Interestingly though, this has happened (at least) twice in Scotland.

In 1995, Meadowbank Thistle relocated from Edinburgh to Livingston, and changed their name to Livingston FC.
(they had previously changed their name from Ferranti Thistle in 1974 to get into the League, as commercial/sponsor names weren't allowed then)

In 2002, Airdrieonians FC who had gone into liquidation effectively "bought out" Clydebank FC, moved the club to Airdrie, renamed the team, changed their colours ... and Airdrie were back in the league.

Hope Ross County stay up (hopefully at expense of Hamilton), lovely to see a highland team from essentially a village beating the mighty Celtic!

Since Inverness dropped down they've been the sole representatives of the Highlands and its nae reet!

First time they don't win it and he resigns!?

Unless the board made him do it.

Think he knows the sack was coming, I wonder just have this sneaky feeling at MON maybe tempted back. His career has pretty much hit a stand still so may fancy going back to kick start his career again. Can imagine Celtic would welcome him back.

Maybe even on interim basis and then moving upstairs to director of football working over someone like Roy Keane dare we say.
