twoleftfeet Posted 10 January 2020 Posted 10 January 2020 Should Jamie Vardy now that Kane is injured reconsider his retirement from International football and make himself available to England? I don't think he should he wasn't treated (as most of our players aren't) with the respect he deserved they get the call up just to sit on the bench and not get the opportunity that their talents warrant with lesser player from other clubs getting the nod before him such as Marcus Rashford, Jessie Lingard and Danny Wellbeck at the 2018 world cup I can accept Kane who score 10 more league goals 2017/18 than Vardy but the other 3?
Guest Manini Posted 10 January 2020 Posted 10 January 2020 Absolutely not. Under no circumstances. **** em and **** Southgate.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 10 January 2020 Posted 10 January 2020 No he shouldn't. Southgate will just move Rashford centrally ahead of playing him anyway.
Woodsey1727 Posted 10 January 2020 Posted 10 January 2020 Just come out of retirement for the euros then retire again after them, England needs someone like him
gerrytaggart Posted 10 January 2020 Posted 10 January 2020 Why? So southgate can bring him on for 20 mins as a winger??
indierich06 Posted 10 January 2020 Posted 10 January 2020 If there was any chance he'd even get a game, maybe. But Southgate will never play him except for a 20 minute cameo on the wing. Waste of everyone's time, enjoy your summer off Jamie.
RoboFox Posted 10 January 2020 Posted 10 January 2020 England players are picked based on their value to brand Premier League. Southgate is a yes man for the FA and their cash cows and thus Vardy, even if fit and the golden boot winner come May, would play second fiddle to forwards from the "big six" teams. I'll watch England when they're on at the Euros, but otherwise I couldn't give two fvcks, TBH. Internationals are a borefest and an unwelcome distraction from the domestic competitions. Keep him fit for City. The less games he plays, the more longevity we get from him.
filbertway Posted 10 January 2020 Posted 10 January 2020 Kane's due back in April isn't he? We'll play a rusty and unfit Kane.
Wolfox Posted 10 January 2020 Posted 10 January 2020 I haven’t been bothered about England since Italia 90
Matt Posted 10 January 2020 Posted 10 January 2020 No. Awful treatment by the England set up and unsuited to the style they play anyway, they wouldn’t change or dare have a plan b to accommodate him even if it would be beneficial when chasing a game.
foxy boxing Posted 10 January 2020 Posted 10 January 2020 He has stated that he doesn't just want to sit on the bench, if he isn't starting games then he should stay at home and rest. even with Kane injured Gareth would prefer to pick younger players. not playing for England has benefited him and the Leicester team.
DennisNedry Posted 10 January 2020 Posted 10 January 2020 Why should he when he's been treated with disdain by the England set up relative to his League performances? Kane will be back by the Euros anyway.
StanSP Posted 10 January 2020 Posted 10 January 2020 No. Rashford, Sterling, Sancho, Abraham will go as the forwards. Kane will be back for the Euros anyway. Don't get why there's such a panic that he won't go. He returns in April and 2 months is enough for him to get back in to form and get full fitness.
deejdeej Posted 10 January 2020 Posted 10 January 2020 Remember when England had a friendly before the last world cup and Rashford scored one and did one very pretty skill move against a lesser nation. Despite Vardy having a much better season, people and media were clamouring all over Rashford after that and Southgate duly took note.. and delivered naff all. Don't waste your time Jamie.
yorkie1999 Posted 10 January 2020 Posted 10 January 2020 I would if i were him, then i'd go and get the golden boot, win the cup and then turn round and say "told you so"
twoleftfeet Posted 10 January 2020 Author Posted 10 January 2020 I think Southgate would give Nick Pope a try up front before putting Vardy on
OntarioFox Posted 10 January 2020 Posted 10 January 2020 Just call up Ings and be done with it. I want Vards fit and firing for us when the Champion's League comes calling.
brucey Posted 10 January 2020 Posted 10 January 2020 I have a feeling Vardy resents missing the first few years of his son growing up. He's got a new baby now and won't go back unless Kane, Abraham and Rashford (at least) are all injured.
