The children have bullied me into signing up for Netflix. Please tell me it's not as shite as it looks.

And yes, I have noticed that the last recommendation on here was for a programme I watched on the BBC several years ago

The Six Triple Eight is really good.

I considered this last night but wasn't convinced having read the synopsis.

I will probably give it a go. Thanks.

If you want something to watch with the kids then One Piece is good fun and is based on an Anime of the same name.

You need to be very selective. A lot is not worth bothering about, some is.

Netflix comes a part of my subscription package but I will ditch it in favour of Apple+ when I can.

Plus, I've had more hackers on Netflix than any other streaming service.

Depending what you like, it’ll have something you’ll most likely enjoy.

Stranger Things

Wednesday

Dahmer

Bridgeton

Queens Gambit

Night Agent

Fool me Once

Squid Games

Cobra Kai

Arcane

Money Heist

Ozark

The Crown

The Witcher

Mind hunter

Umbrella Academy

Sweet tooth

Black Mirror

Sex Education

Red Notice

Good post.   Always thought Netflix comes under some unfair stick.    Much better than Prime and would be competitive enough with Disney Plus in terms of orginal contents.  Cannot comment on Apple TV although.

Can fully recommend Mo.

Stumbled across it, but thoroughly enjoyable, funny and really interesting seeing the inside of a Muslim Palestinian refugee family in America.

Only 2 series and short episodes, but I really enjoyed it and the final episode really made me think a bit differently about events that have happened in the middle east in recent months.

I thought that it was a load of wishy-washy, flag waving, God bless the USA bollox.

However, watched Birdsong and thought it was superb. Nothing to do with Clemence Poesy, obviously

Watched it. The reviews were right. It's poor.

Interesting subject, but weak in it's production/direction. The only standout was the lead character

Watched 'How to Change Your Mind' on Netflix over the last week. Entertaining look at historical and contemporary use of psychedelics, particularly in therapeutic settings.

Increasingly relevant also, considering the legalisation in some countries for therapeutic use. Obviously a documentary which I assume has been appropriately cut for that purpose, but it was interesting to see the capacity for incredible perspective / lifestyle change in some difficult circumstances.

The book is well worth a read. Docs are based on it but even if you've seen the docs the book still has a lot more detail and history to it.

There's quite a lot of very meh stuff and all the big popular stuff which is hit and miss depending on your taste, but I also think there is actually a hell of a lot of value in the reeds if you are willing to try stuff.

Some of my favourites of the last year or so (ignoring the big name stuff you'll probably have heard of):

Wrong Side of the tracks (Entrevias) - great Spanish drama series about a poor neighbourhood in Madrid

Alpha Males (Machos Alfa) - Spanish comedy about 4 men dealing with the new world

Brian and Charles - Really warming British movie about a very eccentric man

And Mrs - Aisling Bea in comedy drama about death of her fiance

Emily the Criminal - Aubrey Plaza plays a new criminal. Need I say more?

Nine Days - Too hard to explain but this was brilliant

Bloodline - Really good american drama series about a well regarded family with a dark history

She's Gotta Have it - Contemporary series based on the film, by Spike Lee. Really unique.

Chef - About a chef opening a food truck with his son. Very easy and satisfying watch.

Starstruck - Comedy series about life at 30(ish) by Rose Matafeo

Stockholm East - Swedish film about a chance meeting of strangers

Fisk - Aussie comedy about a wills & probate office

There's a lot of stand-up too which I don't think any of the other platforms can compete with. I've discovered some of my favourite comedians through Netflix. Very hit and miss obviously but there's loads to go through if you're keen

Finished Zero Day on Netflix last night, pretty good short series on a cyber attack in the US. Worth a watch.

Toxic Town.

A docu-series about Corby and the effect of the closure and demolition of the steelworks on children born with birth defects as a result of the toxic waste generated and the subsequent attempted cover up.

A bit like the post office scandal but more local.

Interesting and absorbing once you get into it.

Came to give my recommendation for Adolescence. Best stuff I have seen on Netflix in a while. Intense, gripping and thought provoking.

Binged it Saturday night.

All the above are true.
