Pep let Kompany go. Likewise Zabaleta.

I'm not denying being kept for experience but there comes a time when they should be let go. Can't just be kept for sentimental reasons.

Look at the state of their defence now, it’s their downfall. Kompany would walk into that team this season.

I’m sure if he signs an extension he isn’t going to be on huge money. He wouldn’t get it anywhere else so it’ll be comparable with any other offers he gets. It’ll reflect his age and role, although maybe a little sweetener added as he’s clearly a good influence around the place. Not worried at all, especially with a potentially hectic schedule next season.

Unless you have an ounce of pace or reasonable quick feet or are pretty decent in the air. Can’t take away what he has achieved but he is far from a great defender. Personally I wouldn’t want to see him coaching our young players technically

Just because he wasn’t blessed with the best feet in football, has no relevance to how he could coach players technically. He isn’t going to be teaching them ‘how’ to pass. Positioning, awareness and plenty of other attributes he possesses would be invaluable to younger defenders coming through. Also, how he plays the game doesn’t necessarily reflect on how he sees the game.

How many times have we seen a pass on TV or live and thought the player made the wrong choice? Not every player can play like De Bruyne or Xavi but they can most certainly still see what should be going on from the outside looking in.

True but I think that's because they didn't replace him and that Laporte, probably the best centre half in the league long with Van Dijk, has been missing all season.

That's why I mentioned above about buying in a first team replacement, especially with Evans being 32 as well.

Agree with that, but competing on domestically and hope to conquer Europe without adequate cover is criminal.

Surely the ‘sponsors’ could’ve added an extra few million for Kompany’s wages

He has the Keys to the club so it's up to him.

He's gonna have one hell of a book when it's published.

Such a great player for the club and I'd take a guess the board are motivating this as well, not just Brendan.

Oh FFS we should just buy one experienced (if Benko isn't ready) and one more up and coming and give Morgan a coaching role that will keep him with the first team on match days, if that's what he wants.

Crazy to think he's been here almost 10 years! He's done a good job whenever he's come in this season and actually looks sharper than he has done in the last couple of seasons. Nothing wrong with him being 4th choice.

Hopefully the fact that BR and the club are looking to keep Wes and Fuchs on for another season will scotch the silly rumours going around that the older (ie Vardy/kasper) players have fallen out with BR and flexing their muscles in the dressing room again as a reason for our current dip in form.  If that truly were the case, then Kasper would be stripped of the captaincy (never liked keepers doing the job personally, no reflection on kasper) and dropped to the bench. really do not think BR is the sort to stand any nonsense like that.

Why not..both players have earnt that sentiment  with clout..!!!

Too many players, around the World were just Left alone & forgotten.

They wont, Play more than 10-12,games if that, but like Rodgers mentioned 2 profis, that also now give alot off the field.

Morgan & Fuchs Two modern day club Greats whom without a Shadow of Doubt have and can be for the future, impeccable servants to the club...

How Morgan realised and upped his Energy and Skill-Set that led the mottley mongrel crew es club captain ,through arguably our best seasons this club as ever experienced,or witnessed...

I for one cant Think of anything more highly, than Pride and passion, that are Wrapped , boxed and lauded ,over these two players,

If the decision was purely for sentimental reasons I would Welcome it the same......!!!

Should be kept on as long as he wants to be here imo. Icon.

Can live with that but just don't want to see him actually playing again.

If these rumours (which i'd never heard about until now and seriously doubt its true) are indeed true then thosse two need shipping out in the summer. Don't care who they are and how good they've been for us even as recently as this season. There's similar accusations laid against them with previous managers but if we're going to let such a position slide then they need binning off.

As long as he gets nowhere near the starting XI, I have no issue with him being kept around the place. Rodgers signed Bennett I think because he lost faith in Morgan on the pitch to come in and shore games up so perhaps he's being kept to help bring on the youngsters and as a thank you for his past achievements.

Agree - to have around makes some sense, but as long as it does not hold back younger players from making the bench.  We really need to be looking at finding younger and capable starting CB's.  The EPL is getting quicker with a greater number of smarter strikers.   Just wish Congers would start delivering.......
