Wes Morgan on course for 10th season with club as contract talks 'ongoing'

What a man. Has his limitations of course but just oozed calmness. I worry against Spurs and Man Utd but we have no choice. Really hope he can stay with the club for as long as he wants too.

We've missed his leadership, a real calm & thorough influence on the defence.

It's Evans only real fault, he's a good player but he's not taken it by the scruff when needed. I don't think Kasper commands the same respect either.

What a man

We looked so assured at the back and even threatening in both boxes. Caglar is class but good on the legend that is Westley Nathan Morgan for today. Lets wrap him up and wheel him out again for the next game!

Brilliant performance from the old dog.

There is people in this thread questioning why we gave him another year. Saying he's got nothing left.

Hopefully tonight makes those people feel very stupid.

This season he has started 9 games in all competitions and we have won them all with 4 clean sheets and he ain't done yet!

His perfect opponents TBF.   With Manure's front 3 running at him he will struggle.   But a very good shift tonight.

Never seen him look so relaxed on the ball. He just keeps learning and getting better with each manager.

There is an obvious chemistry between that back three, they all know what they're doing. That's why I'm not too bothered about United's pace, because if they can anticipate and position themselves well there won't be a need to have Soyuncu's pace in there.

We've needed leadership on the pitch and he brought it in spades. We can't play the way Brendan wants us to with Morgan at the back, but what a man to step in in such difficult circumstances. I just felt confident in him tonight.

Leader.

Ten years ago though if you told me Wes Morgan and Billy Sharp would be battling it out in a league game played in mid July with European football riding on it, I’d ask what have you been taking

By PL standards Wes is old and shit these days and I do fear for us against Man United if/when he plays but mentality wise he was exactly what we needed tonight and played really well wearing the arm band, we’d probably have two more points had he played against Watford and possibly three against Bournemouth. He’s always instilled confidence in those around him.

I see no harm in paying his wages for another season and using him in a similar fashion next year especially if we end up in the Europa.

I do wonder if sometimes we've used Cags' pace as a bit of a get out of jail free card at times this season. Definitely felt very solid and martialed this evening.
