Probably. Think it puts into context how well we did getting Ricardo so easily.

Terribly written article + Link to average PL player = Head of Recruitment witch hunt!

Rinse and repeat from now until August....

Think it was Tielemans that got Rudkin off the hook from years of absuse.... you know the guy who still finalises our signings.... wonder what Congerton will have to do to be afforded the same luxury lol

You've answered your own question.

I think when Brendan left Scotland he quickly grabbed all the paperwork he left laying around and stuffed it into his briefcase. Hidden within was the hand scribbled gem 'shortlist of shit players who will sign for us and look good in this shit league'.

Perez, Bennett and Taylor fall firmly into that category. Very worried about his 'ability' to find and buy decent players. Who next, Kris commons?

Talk about a massive downgrade

Chilwell is the most wanted Left Back in the country, We ain’t getting an upgrade- unless our scouting team spot a left sided Ricky P

According to this forum Chilwell is the worst LB to put on the shirt. I hope we 'upgrade' him with Taylor or someone equally boring to see how people react.

At the risk of looking like I pay little attention to how Burnley get on, could someone explain why this would be as terrible as people make out? Chilwell as he's been for most of the last year wouldn't be the most difficult player to upgrade on. Is this guy genuinely crap or is it just the old Foxestalk thing of having to exclusively sign young players and at 26 Taylor is past it?

Unless of course they happen to be Messi. Even then there would be plenty on here moaning about it being a waste of money, past his prime, no resale value etc.

It seems that whoever the rumour mill throws up there will be those saying that they are either too old, sh*te, too expensive etc etc.  We all have our opinions on certain players, i get that, but please do not let us get entitled by saying that clearly able players are "not good enough for a club with our ambitions" .  The ambitions of the club and our very able senior management team, including the owners, may be somewhat longer term than those of many fans.  They continually stress the importance of sustainable growth, yet for some that seems to mean we have got unlimited resources to go out buy a world beating team....... oh wait a minute, didn't Chelsea and Man city do something like that?  Not a route i think we would want to be going down.

26 and would cost a premium as an English left back. Zero goals and zero assists for a crap Burnley side this season, it is screaming a horrendous and desperate signing.

There's more to being a defender than scoring goals, you know.  But if you want a goalscoring full back, Erik Pieters has scored a couple - you can have him for the right price.  ;)

Of course there's more to being a full back than goals and assists but if you're a left back and you provide neither of those then you aren't for Leicester. Our full backs provide most of our attacking width and HAVE to be able to contribute to our attacking play.

We want Chilwell gone as he isn't anywhere near the level of Ricardo on the other side. He is a proper full back. Goals, assists and tops the tackling charts for a defender, extraordinary.

Surely he can’t be the most wanted left back in the country?

Anyone interested previously with any sense would have ditched the idea having seen him play.

I know football is a funny old game but as I’ve said previously - and I got a ban for for doing so on here 🤷🏻‍♂️ - he’s technically the worst footballer in our team.

Use your own eyes rather than reading the press and hype. There are many many left backs around the world better than Ben Chilwell, so yes we can get upgrade.

1. England’s first choice left back. That alone garners interest.

2. Keeping Fuchs (arguably our best ever left back) out the team

I’m not his biggest fan but he was quality at the end of last / start of this season. He’s suffering from low morale as per most of the team.

if you think teams like Man City, Chelsea, Man Utd, Liverpool will no longer be interested after a few poor games you are the deluded one; they’ve been tracking / watching him for years (youth / reserve games).

I agree there’s better left backs out there but considering his own value / wages we won’t be signing them

What's the difference between what Congerton does and what Rudkin does, out of curiosity?

Congerton has taken over Macia's role of deciding which players to target, Rudkin is then in charge of negotiations for that player. Is my understanding.

We've really got to hope our scouts and analysts are still tasked with unearthing a lot of potential targets too, rather than Congerton getting out the Rothmans Football Year Book and thumbing through that for who we should go and scout.

Yes, that's how I see it also which is a worry because I see nothing from Congerton's past cv that screams success, in fact it screams failure with consequences for whoever his team was at the time. What I can't understand is why Rodgers appears to value him so much unless Congerton like him can tell a very good story, like attracts like etc.

Don't get me wrong Taylor's probably 'OK' but it's no exaggeration to say he's going to cost about thirty million. If we start launching money like that at 'OK' we are going to sink to the bottom half in no time.

1. Some shit professionals have played for England, but yes it does give a higher profile, whether he deserves it is another story.

2. He should not be keeping Fuchs out of the team. Despite the fact that the latter’s legs have gone, he can still kick a football where he wants it to go, and he is the far superior defender.

Lets face it, given what I believe to be the truth in point 2 above, Chilwell’s only asset is his athleticism which he refuses to utilise (either that or he can’t even kick the ball up the line and chase it) therefore I fail to understand why any club would pay big money for him. He’s 23 years of age not 16; he should be able to do the basics now.

You say he was quality at some point? He’s been playing for 3 years (he’s never been able to defend well, nor does he create going forward)  ODD games he’s done alright, but then again a blind pig can find an acorn once in a while.

Its a shame as we could invest any proceeds on a player that can do what he can’t which would be my preference.
