Frightening this is. We supposedly wanted him when he was at Leeds but let Burnley get him for a modest fee, this would be deeply puzzling if he were to be Chilwell's replacement.

 

Hopefully lazy journalism but we are seemingly linked more and more with domestic players (mostly shit ones) which is a noticeable change recently, whether that's because journalists here are just not getting any leaks within our club so have to base their stories solely around punts, but either way it makes for grim reading.

I can see there being some truth to this. There are rumours that Chilwell will be let go in the summer with Chelsea being big suitors of him. I like Chilly and think it's important that academy graduates get into and stay in the first team. But say we got 60m for Chilwell, then like Maguire before him I think that would be a good deal for us, because Chilwell is not that good. Depends how much we pay for this lad, but if get a 40m windfall from a Chilwell sale and get a decent replacement in, then that's probably good business. He's not on the same level as Mahrez or Kante and is definitely replaceable. 

 

That said if it was down to me, I would be looking at Alex Telles of Porto as a Chilwell replacement. Much older, but consistently one of Porto's best players and the last full back we signed from them hasn't turned out to be too shabby...

It'd be so Chelsea to sign Chilwell for a ridiculous amount of money after he's turned in half a season of dribbling the ball out of play for no reason and running forwards 30 yards then passing the ball backwards 30 yards.

There's no point trying to buy players from PL clubs as they'll all be over priced if you want home grown you've got to pick them up from the lower leagues like Justin or develop them.

 

If you want ready made players then you have to find your gems from abroad.

Wouldn't mind us looking at gosens at atalanta if we were to replace chilly. Been fantastic as a wing back and left back this season. Also has CL experience and atalanta have also sold their players

Totally understandable. This is again why buying PL first team players is just total madness now but for clauses. Literally no team in the league needs to sell.
