I read this yesterday and didn't sleep well last night because of it.

It's so sad but fair play to that chap for doing what he could to provide comfort to her at the end

Oh, this wasn't what I read, I read one where she was dying and no one gave her proper first aid, even in the ambulance. She kept asking if she was going to die. A simple tourniquet would have probably saved her life.

Leicester Uni to scrap English literature and replace it with 'employability modules'.

Thats a big sigh.

The Empire didn’t even exist before Chaucer’s death, how is this in anyway ‘decolonisation’?

There’s plenty of good in wanting an equitable society but Unis need to put their foot down once in a while and say when stupidity is stupidity.

Because it has nothing to do with wanting an equitable society, it's neo-liberalization of higher education.

The stuff about decolonizing the curriculum of course comes with staff redundancies and vague promises to compete globally.

Expect more where this came from.

Very true mate.

‘Pink capitalism’ as they call it, just like when they talk about taking Uncle Ben off of rice packets and get the Daily Mail frothing about ‘the left’. Realistically it’s highly paid execs who think that’s what’s hip.

But it isn’t helped by a fringe that’s given far too much thought on Uni campuses.

Yeah there are plenty of academics who buy into it. I don't think it's a conspiracy, just that it's a way for not particularly intelligent people to be successful at university and also convince themselves they're on the 'right side of history'.

Does that make sense to anyone else? lol

I appreciate that she has the right to what she feels comfortable or uncomfortable with but her stance sort of suggests that all men are filthy ogling perverts. On reflection, she may have a point :D

"Not all men are filthy ogling perverts", says man whose identity is based on his enormously outsized penis. :D

Driving while disqualified as well as no insurance etc. Hardly kept a low profile did he? Not to mention putting other road users at risk if he drove to Asda on blue lights. Ridiculous.

I thought the paint and lights had to be removed before selling on? What a cvnt. Would be so easy to drive down a busy street with an IED or something in one of those.
