Based on what?

Eu right to earn a living

Eu right to freely pursue a business

Eu right to association and assembly

Improper consultation period for introduction of new law

I'm sure decent lawyers could come up with better than that and maybe even past precedents

Do I take it you disagree with this and presumably the need for a lockdown in general?

I disagree with being told/ordered/bullied what to do and not advised/asked/trusted what to do.

If you think otherwise, we must have a totally different value system  from each other

Perhaps but I would not presume to draw that conclusion. If as a society we cannot be entrusted to follow the recommended guidance for the good of society as a whole, what would you suggest?

Well, it's not recommended guidance, is it? It's law.

I'm guessing you neither asked for, or want, some off the cuff manifesto from me.

But suffice to say, I've largely followed my own common sense since day 1.

I've done 'legal' stuff that's absolutely risky in catching the virus and I've done illegal stuff that was absolutely safer then the law

Do not disagree with anything you say, and I follow a similar mindset. However, you would assume there are plenty that do not, so therefore such more draconian restrictions have been invoked to ensure all are required to follow the guidelines that perhaps you, me and others follow willingly.

Then we agree more than I thought. I accept There's significant portion of the nation who are , frankly, thick as pigsh1te and even more selfish.

But

A) sensible people factor that into their own thinking and behaviour (like you would when driving, always looking for danger)

B) the art of leadership is taking people with you. Harness the initial community blitz spirit there was. That chance was blown by destroying everything that's enjoyable in life. Even wwII didn't ban fun or stop education.

It's the old adage; treat people like idiots and they'll behave as such

Not saying we fully agree, that would be unlikely as situations vary, but common sense rules along with a view on society at large.

Anyway, time for a bit of :scarf:

Not as mad as you can take a stroll around your golf course with a mate but you can't have a club in your hand

I have a theory that in four weeks time the ‘lockdown’ will end with most of the country moved into tier 3 or a new level of 4 (which is in effect what we have at the moment). There will be some areas with low levels of infection which may go into tier 2.

However, the govt have to give us something to make it look like things have changed - ergo tennis, golf (in pairs), youth team sports outdoors and a few other no risk pursuits (perhaps even shops) will be relaxed ....

the fact is they’ve probably introduced restrictions that simply aren’t needed now so they can relax them in four weeks time

It seems to me that we should've had a two week break then gone into the tier systems. That looks a much better model than starting it then heading to lockdown before it's benefits are shown.

Let's just hope the schools rate is starting to drop.

59.9% of people who came in close contact with positive Covid cases contacted by Track & Trace in the week ending 28 October, 97.9% contacted by local council tracing teams in the same period (https://news.sky.com/story/coronavirus-just-59-9-of-those-who-came-into-close-contact-with-positive-covid-cases-reached-by-test-and-trace-12124367)

Throw this on the pile with 1/5th of Covid summer cases caused by EOTHO. Another government failing, yet it’s Joe Public to blame as usual.

Simple, wait for the next election, vote labour in and they'll supertax the 5% that own 95% of the wealth.

Who then move overseas and don't pay anything.

Another one.

So they realised there was an issue and decided not to use them. Bit of positive news for once. It's much more preferable than them ignoring it and going ahead with it to try and save face.

Probably be taxed just as highly anywhere in the world. So many countries will have such a big bill. Quite right the mega rich should pay their share.

Very easy for someone who isn’t mega rich to say.
