Any ideas if it's all care home residents/staff or just those of a certain age? Missus is only 33, already had covid and hates needles. Doubt she'll be happy if she's on the list. :D

Would she be happy if it improved her chances of immunising herself against it though?!

They won't make it legally compulsory to have the jabs, but they might make it compulsory to have the jabs if she wants to carry on working in a care home.  Also, don't be surprised if the care homes' insurance policies say all staff must be immunised.

Course she would. Just curious to see if she's on the first serve list is all.

I don't see why she wouldn't be. To speed up the process it's quickest to just do everyone rather that trying to judge each individual case on it's own merit. So make sure you get plenty of lollipops and stickers in for her :D

All sounds hopeful though I note the finidngs are based on the first 94 patients only so far and it will be another 3 weeks before proper large scale results are out. Though I doubt they would come out some postively if there wasn't more evidence they can't share yet. It will take 2 doses 3 weeks apart and it takes effect 7 days after the second dose.So we will have enough for 20 million people. Probably not enough to cover all the above list.

Absolutely that’s the priority.  We still need to be careful though.  If you go straight back to normal then perhaps 2% of 60 year olds and 1% of 50 year olds will be hospitalised in a fairly short period.

I am sure that a rollout/easing plan is being worked on, or maybe Boris will just wing it!

As best I can find out, there have been about forty to fifty thousand people under 70 admitted to hospital with Covid.  Total admissions is 181,146 with about a quarter of them under 70.

2% of 60-69 year olds is about 150,000 people and 1% of 50-59 is another 75.000 or so.  It's a stretch to say that that many extra people will be hospitalised that quickly.

According to what they were saying on 5Live, the findings were based on around 45,000 patients?

And that of those only 94 got it - most of whom were given the placebo vaccine.

Ok. maybe I misread it.

I misread it initially like you did, but they had scientists on 5 Live who were saying it was just 94 patients who got it out of 45,000 jabs, most of whom had the placebo vaccine. So I'm hoping they're right on that one.

Wonder if there'll ultimately be any kind of provision for under 50's who would like the vaccine - maybe privately available.

Obviously front line health workers and the vulnerable should absolutely get priority, and I'm rightly way way down the hierarchy, but in an ideal world i would like to get the vaccine myself.

Difficult to know, any private system is open to abuse by corporates bulk buying a large percentage of the privately available vaccines.

“Now I’m not one for conspiracies, but I don’t even think Fizer are a real company, they were in that film I watched about viagra with the bloke out of Jarhead and the Princes Diaries woman so if you don’t think this is clearly a scheme driven by 5G, Hollywood and the Pizzagate people then I don’t even want to argue with you”

Wake up people!!
