It's to replace the loss of speeding revenue. Notice how you get a lesser fine if you pay within 14 days, why would paying quicker reduce the "offence"?

Wow to your post in reality

'Wow' because a bloke went for a cuppa round a friends house and is told that isn't allowed and has to pay a fine. I quite clearly said it's in the rules but if none of you think there's anything shocking about it all, then 'wow'.

Mate it's really not difficult to adjust the mask to prevent steaming. I wear glasses and I do it every time and it's fine. Just pull the top of the mask higher up your nose and place the glasses on top of the mask. Takes two seconds and works perfectly.

FFS How have I only just discovered this. I've been walking around with my glasses on my head feeling like i've got Vaseline rubbed on my eyeballs.

We opened TEN intensive care units at my hospital alone on the last surge. TEN. Each bedspace designed for 1 patient had 2 and sometimes 3 in it. We are fast ramping up again now, more and more come in every day.

You and everyone else who complains about the measures or masks or whatever, DONT HAVE A ****ING CLUE. You have no idea how close we came to collapsing. Do you have any idea what happens when a country's healthcare system ceases to cope and provide a basic service to it's population? Don't you understand how many people will die?

One person gets fined for going round a friend's house, because if everyone did that in winter we would be totally ****ed.

I honestly don't understand why everyone can't just shut the **** up and get on with this because we have potentially YEARS of this shit. I've been working at risk and in full PPE since ****ing Feb and I don't complain I just get on with it, same for the thousands of other healthcare. Don't any of you have any stomach? Can't you just help us without constantly moaning, nit-picking and whinging?

I don't personally agree with all the measures myself, especially those that hurt small businesses and cause so many to lose jobs, I'm convinced they could do things better, but it's not my job to make the call. But the least you could do is wear a ****ing mask and don't go round people's houses this winter. It's all you're being asked to do for ****s sake.

I understand exactly the reason he was fined, the 'wow' as I've just stated is because it's shocking that we're in this scenario and situation.

It's been said on here many times before, the Government should have used the past 8 months to ramp up healthcare, increase capacity & staff and prepare us for YEARS of this. As it is, they laid off loads of student nurses and have built some temporary hospitals which didn't get used then got partially dismantled, before being built again. Where are all these ventilators they wanted to order to save the country? If this vaccine doesn't work or become available in the next few months then God help us all. Where's the huge recruitment drive to entice people into working for the NHS, providing us with more vital frontline workers to care for your average man/woman. Things were always going to be a lot worse over winter, it's flu season, why do we appear to have done nothing other than create a huge testing capacity?

We've continued to allow flights all throughout this, the track and trace system has been an absolute joke, no details were being taken at airports, a load of people weren't even bothering to quarantine when they returned from their holiday, yet the Government did absolutely piss all about it. Where were the fines for all those people? What about the fines for everyone protesting? Fines for Liverpool, Leeds or Coventry fans who were celebrating title wins? As someone above pointed out it just feels like they're going for the easy targets again (which did used to be speeding motorists).

The Government, elected MPs and others put in charge of handling this crisis have been an absolute shambles and that's why a lot of people just don't care anymore, as sad as that is, they're meant to lead by example yet they've been using trains after testing positive, sneaking women round for shags and not following the rules themselves. They deliberately used wrong graphs in their information briefings and misled millions upon millions of people. The continued U turn after U turn, lie after lie, 'leaking' of cruicial information into the papers every Friday night, before the 'leak' actually being implemented a few days later. They've got us blaming each other for being in this situation but 80% (a rough figure I don't know the actual one) of people have been compliant all the way through. If we should all be pissed off with someone it should be with this pathetic excuse of a Government. For the first time in my life I'm  genuinely embarrassed about who I voted for.

For reference I'm also a key worker and I also wear a mask. Thank you for everything you have done and continue to do, this post isn't aimed at you, more of a rant as to why I think people aren't following the rules to the book, which is making your job even harder.

The fact that vaccine appears to be 90% effective in stopping infection is pretty amazing. A lot of the talk was around initial vaccines reducing symptom severity.

Assuming our Danish furry friends (RIP) haven't stuffed everything up, those sort of numbers are indicative of pretty much wiping it out.

I’m of the firm belief that we needed a four year term of Trump and this coronavirus pandemic to shock the world into realising how far we have to go with education, trust in science and technology and most importantly; better news and media coverage.

Your life isn’t a movie. Get the jab, protect others.

Not really. You just need to immunise enough to keep hospital rates down. If you focus who you give the jabs to to over 70s and under 70s with underlying health conditions then that should be enough to make hospitalisation rates manageable enough for society to start getting back to normal.

Absolutely that’s the priority.  We still need to be careful though.  If you go straight back to normal then perhaps 2% of 60 year olds and 1% of 50 year olds will be hospitalised in a fairly short period.

I am sure that a rollout/easing plan is being worked on, or maybe Boris will just wing it!

Any talk about vaccines is a quick way to determine if someone is an imbecile.

I'm an imbecile! Could it be that there will eventually be a combined Cov-19 and 'flu vaccine? Savings are enhanced if several antigens are delivered in a single dose. Combination vaccines can also bring the added benefits of better compliance, coverage, injection safety and maintenance of previous immunisation schedules, without compromising immunogenicity and reactogenicity.

I think they will be looking to vaccinate everyone over the age of 50 if possible. Plus those with severe underlying health conditions under 50. This will take several months if not most of next year to achieve even if it really does work as hoped.
