Apparently we're close to approving the Johnson and Johnson one dose vaccine. I think once we do, we need to give that to those under 40. That way they are done and out the way and can concentrate on carry on giving the second doses to the old and vulnerable.

That’s far to sensible to actually happen

Think the biggest problem is the amount of doses available. I think 30 million were ordered but we don't know how many will be delivered in the next 3 months. It might only be 5 million.

Surely we will soon get to a point where some of the ordered vaccines are going to other countries.

THIS VIRUS STRUGGLES TO SPREAD OUTSIDE, WHITTY/VALANCE CONFIRMED IT AND IT'S BEEN SAID 1000000 TIMES.

HOW MANY TIMES DOES THIS HAVE TO BE SAID? SERIOUSLY! HUNDREDS OF INSTANCES OF GATHERINGS IN THE PAST 13 MONTHS HAVE CAUSED ZERO SPIKES.

13 deaths today, 61.1% of all adults have had a first dose, 14.5% of all adults have had a second dose.

So why did they shut down all the outdoor stuff in the first place then.

The moment you realise the government might have made a few mistakes

How many of the outdoor gatherings actually occurred when lots of virus was circulating ?  The combination on low viral presence with outdoor gathering leads to little transmission risk.  There is a good conversation to be had about why low risk outdoor stuff like kids football was re opened so slowly.

God knows mate, I think they were just sending a message to be honest.  None of the outdoor gatherings which we were seeing every fortnite led to any form of a spike 2 weeks later.

I've just seen that Chile have been largely using the Sinovac vaccine which is not said to only have a 50.4% efficiency rating.

Might explain why their cases have risen again after opening up compared to Israel which has used the Pfizer vaccine.

Ties up with a Chinese official who was ‘ miss quoted’ saying their vaccine may only be 50% effective ...

I’ll give it six weeks and the pubs will all be shut again. Just drove past my local and it’s rammed outside,  no distancing whatsoever

You can drink outdoors all over the city, it's safe outside says Professor Chris Whitty, let's hope it's damn hot!

I've ran out of reps, sorry.

Thanks for everyone's kind words, I appreciate it.

Don’t be silly Webbo. Hope you’re ok. You’re one of the forum’s good guys 👍

J&J supplies are very low after a balls up at a factory, but this is a good suggestion. It’s causing wild symptoms after dosage. I’m 26 and it was like having bad flu symptoms for 24hrs after getting it.

And Webbo, goes without saying but so sorry to hear of your loss. This virus and its implications has taken too many precious lives.

God bless, Harris. Thoughts with you Webbo.

Been out tonight for a few and it was so good to see lots of people out enjoying themselves.

Pretty gutted that the 3 pubs in my local area haven't bothered opening until May. Probably because they are run by Stonehouse and Beefeater.

Quite a lot of that happening. To be fair, after what they've been through, they have to make it financially viable.

The furlough scheme is still running, so hopefully the staff are OK and managing.

Who knows what will happen in the next few weeks, it isn't beyond the realms of possibility that they'll be ordered to shut up shop again, costing hundreds or thousands in beer that'll have to be thrown down the drain again.

I completely understand the caution.

Because it’s easier to enforce what goes on outdoors than what goes on behind closed doors and they were being ridiculously cautious.

I hope any future enquiry comes down hard on the government for shutting kids playgrounds and banning outdoor sport though.

Might it be because when it was a brand new disease that they knew nothing about, they didn't know whether it spread outdoors or not?

This is true but they knew the risks were absolutely minimal this lockdown but persisted. I suppose the issue is not just about the being together to play the sport but the temptation to then socialise thereafter ....... they were doing everything they could to minimise R given that they were committed to re opening schools and the expectation that this would have had a more negative impact on cases than it turned out
