I think it might be my nephew (Danny) you're talking about. I'm devastated.

This is tragic. So sorry to hear this mate. Condolences to you and all your family

And please dont get me wrong, I'm not one of these militant socialist NHS workers, I get really annoyed at the entitlement and fart sniffing of some of them. I just want to be paid the appropriate amount for a skillset that I spent years building, as any trade do. Nursing is not a vocation.

My partner is a midwife, she feels exactly the same way as you do.

Tough 13 hour shifts, sometimes no break and gets a measly 1% pay rise.

She has 25plus years of service and has seen maternity care gradually eroded over the years, never enough midwives on and too many office bods making decisions without talking to the people who actually know the job.

The pay off is for her is that she can retire at 55 with a damn good pension, something most people in the private sector can only dream about.

Although correct me if I’m wrong newer NHS workers won’t see such benefits.

Yes. I'm really sorry @Webbo I only really knew him to say hello to, but many people I know knew him well, and he will be desperately missed. People are saying what an absolutely great guy he was, everyone who knew him loved him.

Sending love and condolences to you and your family xx

Tragic news, thoughts with you @Webbo.

Hope not to be too intrusive but does this person have a surname beginning with H?

I've seen several friends post online about how devastated they are to lose their mate. Don't know him myself but he looked young.

It was the vaccine that killed him, not covid. A million to one chance.

Oh mate, I'm absolutely devastated for you. Big love to you and yours. N.

Yes, that's him, very popular lad, must be 32 or 33. He went home and away with the city and England. I'm sure there'll be quite quite a few people on here who knew him.

Forgive me if this is insensitive @Webbo but why was he having the vaccine if only 32? Underlying health condition?

He had a thyroid condition from birth. It was controlled with pills, it didn't really affect him.

I've just seen that Chile have been largely using the Sinovac vaccine which is not said to only have a 50.4% efficiency rating.

Might explain why their cases have risen again after opening up compared to Israel which has used the Pfizer vaccine.
