LinekersLugs Posted 24 July 2020 Posted 24 July 2020 The very public linking of LCFC and the Government of Thailand yesterday for me signifies our arrival as a super club , the Government of Thailand has rubber stamped our importance to their plans for global reach, In doing so I believe they have created an unbreakable bond between the nation of Thailand and our club, for me this Announcement is possibly among the top 5 pivotal moments in this clubs history. Once an EPL club forms a partnership with the rulers of a foreign state we have typically seen those clubs achieve great stability and security beyond their means, Super Clubs , we Now are now in that bracket The partnership between LCFC and the government of Thailand was effectively announced and rubber stamped at the present conference in Bangkok yesterday , it was attended by City chairman Top and the Thai Prime Minister, Prayut Chan-o-cha , this move for me isn’t about just the next 12 months the government of Thailand is signifying it recognises the now clear link between LCFC and it’s nation, furthermore they have moved to cement that relationship and harness it for everyone’s betterment. we are now under the patronage of that state and it’s government , this gives us huge security and backing way beyond our means to ensure we will thrive and grow, our link with Thailand will now blossom even more and as our PR value soars the governments vested interest in us will also Soar ! Khun Vichai I always believed had this moment in his mind, when he could effectively achieve his dreams of achieving significant influence and power via the Club’s status in the worlds most popular football product these are great moments for our club , City And region ! A moment to truly rejoice 4

Webbo Posted 24 July 2020 Posted 24 July 2020 In reality, this is a promotion for the Thai tourist industry, its not surprising that Thai politicians were there. 1

mazarron fox Posted 24 July 2020 Posted 24 July 2020 Or king power are feeling the pinch after COVID and feel getting income from a shirt deal from an outside source makes more financial sense
SemperEadem Posted 24 July 2020 Posted 24 July 2020 All very murky this. Can't really say it is something I am ok with. 1
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 24 July 2020 Posted 24 July 2020 Yeah if we're looking to gain the support of the Thai people or whatever then Top standing next to someone a lot of people describe as a Junta may not be the best route.

Les-TA-Jon Posted 24 July 2020 Posted 24 July 2020 (edited) I'm confused. Seems like a lot of assumptions are being made. My understanding was that this is simply that a new shirt sponsor is the Thailand Tourist board. That isn't the same as full state sponsorship from the Thai government, like Man City and PSG have with their respective state owners. Edited 24 July 2020 by Les-TA-Jon 3

davieG Posted 24 July 2020 Posted 24 July 2020 Are we even receiving any money from this the way it's linked to King Power's charitable work suggests to me we're not. It just comes across as a more charitable contribution to Thailand's recovery from COVID-19? Quote On Thursday, at Aksra Theatre King Power in Bangkok, the unbreakable bond which exists between Leicester City and its Thai community was evident once more as Prime Minister Chan-o-cha provided backing to a campaign designed to help the country stride into the future, post-COVID-19. Harnessing the power of Thailand’s acclaimed personality – typified by the kindness of spirit and generosity which all Foxes supporters are now familiar with – will be key to that strategy. The Club’s commitment to its community, whether at home or abroad, remains a central pillar of Leicester City’s long-term strategy as the world re-emerges from a crisis which has touched so many. Throughout 2020, Leicester City has donated to a series of causes, including University Hospitals Leicester NHS Trust, Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust and Age UK Leicester Shire and Rutland. The 2020 Gift Of A Wish campaign, on the other hand, continues to build upon the precious legacy bestowed upon the Club by our beloved late Chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha. Nearly 200 applications from more modest causes across Leicestershire were received for bespoke funding and volunteer allocation, which led to Club staff assisting the region’s most vulnerable people during COVID-19. Our supporters remain vital to this ambition and, as it stands currently, the Foxes family have donated over £180,000 in ticket rebates for the refurbishment of critical facilities at Leicester Royal Infirmary. That family now includes the people of Thailand – and the Club is absolutely determined to stand shoulder to shoulder with Khun Top’s homeland and be a champion for its future growth.
yorkie1999 Posted 24 July 2020 Posted 24 July 2020 I thought this was some sort of mock up originally. Are they really our shirts for next season and is Jersey Bud really going to re-release when you're smiling but changing the lyrics from the whole world to Thailand smiles with you

But not a formal arrangement whereby LCFC are now state sponsored by Thailand, like the 'true' superclubs are. Hence my original point. 1

As I've said elsewhere with the relaxing of ffp and the man city ruling they should ****ing go for it this summer.

Well I think they haven't really made it clear what their involvement is so that inevitably leads to questions being asked, is it charitable or is it paid sponsorship? I think as it's targeted at us and other viewers it would be good to know.

Which is why CL qualification was so important to at least try and attract the absolute best we could. then we can decide if we’re willing to push the boat out financially whilst it’s allowed ....... clubs like wolves who may have had similar plans could be re thinking a massive spend due to the current political climate between China and the UK
Lesta Legend Posted 24 July 2020 Posted 24 July 2020 A duty free company promoting tourism in their home country where vast majority of their business is based shock horror. There is no suggestion of anything more than this, what is your take on 5G causing Covid, can jet fuel melt Steel beams and did Epstein actually kill himself?
