Stadt Posted 28 August 2020 Posted 28 August 2020 What’s happened to him? He had his injury in 18/19 and was due to be fit again last summer according to transfermarkt. He was in the 25 man squad for last season but didn’t make a single appearance. He’s not an outstanding player by any means but given the fixture congestion next season he might be called upon

coolhandfox Posted 28 August 2020 Posted 28 August 2020 Hasn't had a competitive game since October 2018 due to his injury, before that in the 3 and a quarter seasons he played 46 games. I think he's time has gone. If he's the answer, we may as well say James is as well.

Imo, and I've no idea why he's never got a game there, he looks like an ideal centre back. Like I say he's not great on the ball, but he's good enough on it to play centre back, he's strong, quick, good in the air. He played there regularly for Ghana, so I don't see why he's not in the mix for that role. Would rather he'd got a run out, if fit, than Bennett last season.

Assumed he was still recovering or just not in the plans anymore

But during that run he'd cemented a first team spot and was used pretty frequently. The lad just had a bloody awful injury, the way his ankle just hung in the air was grim, we were financially secure. The contract to help him was hardly huge.

Clever Fox Posted 28 August 2020 Posted 28 August 2020 I feel really sorry for him, He was progressing nicely until his accident. The new contract was the right and decent thing to do by the Club. It was a bad break so my guess is the Club don't feel his Ankle wouldn't stand up to the rigors of the Premiership, And so a transfer might be the best solution all round. We might recover some of our outlay on him while he gets a chance to try and resurrect his career elsewhere. I think he had great potential but I'd be surprised if he was given another chance here given the extent of his injury.

In all honesty, I think a fresh start would be best for him.

He was quick,Strong had decent touch and could head the ball. I think he was too quiet for his own good here. Puel was definitely making a player out of until the unfortunate accident. I always loved his attitude, He gave everything when he played. Just an very honest player.
